Cheap Parcel Delivery Official Discussion

I just thought that I would share my experiences about Transglobal Express as they are one of the recommended couriers on the main site.
I have sent several large(ish) parcels with TGE all over Europe and the Mid-East this year. Weights range from 5 -15 kg and can be as long as 1.5 metres.
Their online quotes and booking service is very good and they always pickup on time. They use a variety of different couriers depending on the destination -UPS, DHL etc. I have no complaints at all about their service.
One thing that I have been concerned about though, is on occasions weeks after the delivery I get an e-mail stating that the courier has said that there was a discrepancy with the weight so they are now charging me more. As you have to pay up front with a card they automatically take the excess straight off of the card. The thing is I know the exact weight of my parcels as, I have been sending the exact same things with other couriers for over 5 years so I know that the courier (or soemone else) is trying it on. This has now happened to me 4 times since the summer and even though I query it straight away the card payment has already been taken. The staff at customer services are always very polite and explain that they will look into it, but the dispute is never resolved until I phone for a second time. They have all been resolved in my favour, but not until I have made the follow up phone call.
My suspicion is that someone is trying it on and if you don't challenge it or forget that you need to follow it up, they will get away with it.

Well i just posted a packet to my parents by Royal Mail Special Delivery at 17.00 for just over £5 and it arrived 300 miles away at 7.15 the next morning. Great service. Only a pity it'll be destroyed by a rotten Government and a terrible management. At when it's all gone now doubt the foriegn firms will push prices up higher and higher. Don't believe me, than take a look at your Gas bill...0

I don't understand how you got it under the £7.06 it would've cost with Royal Mail? PMonkey next day is £8.20 inc VAT. Unless the insurance made the difference? They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0 -

Hi
Does anyone know of a courier that will send a parcel to Poland which contains semi-precious beads for jewellery making. The parcel is worth £1300.
Interparcel won't take it because the value is over £250 which is the maximum for precious stone (even those these are semi precious!).
Dimensions: 27cm (L) x 19(W) x 9cm (H). Weight: 0.711kg.
Many thanks for your help.0 -

RM special delivery can insure up to £25000 -
Hi - the parcel is for Poland so RM Special Delivery doesn't apply. You can send it via International Sign For but the insurance is only up to £250.0
