Thankfully, my eBay buyer is very understanding, and they said that they also used City Link as a corporate customer through the floods. They've told me that UK mail offer £6(inclusive of VAT) for any item up to 25kg, but do require you to pre-pay £250 first, making them cheaper than PM unless of course they can offer such a service.

EDIT: It really is past my bed time. They said they use a local courier who offer a UK mail service at that price.

i posted this elsewhere but seems more relevent to post it here...anyone know a cheap and reasonably reliable courier that would post a 2.6kg (47cm x 32 cm x 18 cm or 18.5" x 13 " x 7") package to Lanzarote in the Canary Islands please? - the package cannot be split into smaller parts. I know alot of the brokers are showing about £39-£42 ... I'm ideally looking for something around or under £33.

I'm getting £5.78 + VAT via Despatch Bay, although you get a £1.95 surcharge if less than 4 parcels per day. But I like their system - no fiddling about measuring and weighing (unless you suspect that it might be out of gauge of course, but for the vast majority of "normal" boxes there's nothing to do but enter the address). I prefer DHL to CityLink too.

ETA: It's late and I'm tired (just printing my manifest for the morning lol). I didn't realise £6 was inclusive of VAT. (Got a link to the provider? ;-) )

Last week i had to send a 30kg parcel to a BFPO address.

I checked out the companies mentioned in this thread, and have come up with some results.

If the parcel is 30kg or under, and is 1.05mtrs long or less, then Parcel force will charge you £13.60 to send the parcel.

If the parcel is 30kg or under, and is over 1.05 mtrs long, then HDNL is the best at £29.99 as the parcel will arrive at the BFPO commercial department, where longer items can be accepted.
  • agreed. And City-link will not help you as they claim thier contract is with Parcel Monkey. Poeple should complain to trading Standards about this company and Citilink should disassociate from companies like this. Citi-link et al can be challenged contractually if enough people complain about companies like Parcel Monkey ..as bottom line our consumer money ends up with both companies. £ weeks and still waiting for Parcel Monkey to contact me properly and tell me what is going on. 3 weeks of talking to city-link customer service plus managers and my parcel which was delivered to wrong address cannot be retrieved. Have now emailed city-link CEO to get some response and be durned with their '3rd party' contract with parcel Monkey.
  • So parcel Monkey stand up and be counted both ehre and on ebay forums. Over 3 weeks ago my parcel was deleivered to the wrong people and you have done NOTHING despite me sending in complainets 8 times via your site.

I have also called Trading Standards/ consumer Direct
  • bornjoyful,

First of all sorry if City Link delivered to the wrong address.

Give me your order number and I will look into it for you.
Seems strange at this stage you have had no contact after 8 messages on the CRM.

    Hi everyone,

I'm hoping to send a parcel (60x35x10cm and 1.5kg) to Denmark. It's just outside Royal Mail's small parcels size limits, so I have to go elsewhere.

Any idea where would be cheapest? It'd be handiest dropping off at a depot, but I can wait in if needs be. Cheapest so far is about £20 through a reselling type place using Parcelforce 48hr.
  • i have been waiting for 2 days for my parcels to be collected and no one has turned up this as you can imagine is making my buisness look very bad i have been using parcel monkey for about a year but lately the companys services are getting really bad, none of the support staff seem to listen and you cant ring its all done by just emails i would be very wary of them they are cheap but as always you get what you pay for!
