Why not send with Home Delivery Network instead?
I know its more expensive but you can specify a time for collection that way you know they will come after 3pm.
Have a look at HDNL evening collection on parcel2go.
http://www.parcel2go.com/service/HDNL-Evening-Collection.aspx
That's good to know that HDL do a timed collection - that would be useful for me. I'm having a look at the parcel2go website and it shows that HDL have morning, afternoon or evening collections so I'm sure I could find a time to fit.
Are HDL any better these days? When I had a parcel delivered by them about a year ago the service was terrible. Is it also still the case that they don't have depots so my customer can't go and collect the parcel from the depot if they wanted to?0 -
Do you live near a depot, as many couriers will let you drop off at a depot.
OR: I actually leave my stuff in the porch for collection (if not using the dreaded CityLink who want a signature on collection for some reason - who I don't anymore tbh) - is where you live safe enough to do something like that? (I'm in the middle of nowhere).
Good call - there is a DHL depot near where I live and there is a citylink (I think) near work so that could be an option too. I don't have a porch or anywhere I'd feel comfortable with leaving my parcel unfortunatelyBut, I'm learning all the time, I didn't know you could do this so it's useful information thank you.

I personally have never had any hassle with HDNL, but everyone has their own experiences.
Do you have a DPD/Interlink Express depot near you, as they offer a drop off service for you to drop off your parcels there.
They also have a £5 discount code off your next order.

Ooh cheers for that - I'll check that out thank you0 -
We tried Interlink Direct for first time yesterday, and have been disappointed so far.... OH phoned to see if he could drop parcel off yesterday morning. Advised to book pickup on computer as it was cheaper, so he did. On booking auto email told him that parcel would be picked up before 5.30 p.m. 5.30 p.m. came and went, no pickup. Emailed (as couldn't get anyone on telephone by then), and received email back early this morning saying driver ran out of time. Rang depot, who then told me that, no, they had been expecting us to drop off our parcel!? Why would we want to drop it in when we had been told that it was being picked up? Anyway, obviously some communication problems, but I asked them to ensure next day delivery (i.e. tomorrow (Saturday)) as, without this problem, the parcel should have been delivered today. Depot told me they couldn't authorise this but I had to ring Customer Services. Rang Customer Services who then rang depot, who told them, no way, unless I pay an upgrade of £11 for Saturday delivery!! I pointed out that this was not the way to treat a new customer, and that this was a small amount to cover to ensure that I went away happy from my first experience with this company. But no, they weren't going to move. I have been trying, unsuccessfully, to find someone to complain to on their website other than the customer services who read out stock answers. First and last time I will be using them.0

That sounds like a really bad experience!
I have used them once and they were great with me.
They shifted a large 10kg parcel to the Republic of Ireland for about £13 in 48 hours, cheapest about for that sort of thing.Young moneysaver in the making

Not so long ago, this company sent a letter through my door:
http://www.gwizzcouriers.co.uk/
They seem to offer £300 insurance for £8.09 or £6.89 Ex VAT, which is cheaper than PM for items that need more insurance than £1500 -
Hi, Wondering if anyone has any suggestions for getting a light (<3kg) but reasonably large parcel (40x40x40cm) sent to Australia? The size gives a volumetric weight of about 12kg so its looking expensive. Doesnt have to be a particularly speedy service...
Any suggestions greatfully appreciated.0 -

Anyone looking to post stuff abroad worth checking out www.transglobal.org.uk
I priced up several sites for my parcel which was 26K to Canada and most were priced between £80 & £110. Transglobal which gave me several company options came out at £62.63 with £5 insurance which I added just for peace of mind. It's going by DHL so a trusted carrier. I have used the company before back in March 2008 but then 24k cost me £114 so a massive saving this time on 2008 prices and the other sites that I checked out. Worth a look if you've something to send.:rotfl:0
