Thanks I have used them before to ship from South Africa to UK. They were quite good and you also got free packing materials, and it was door to door. The only issue I had with them was the cost - I was given my quote, paid the deposit. They collected the box and then sent me through the bill for the rest which was nearly double the original quote, and not according to the weight (or volumetric weight). I did query this.... I heard nothing from them for a few days until I suddenly received another bill for the original quote... No complaints with that except I was given no personal communication or explanation as to why the original discrepancy. Overall they were good but because of my recent experience I am weary to use them again. I don't want to have to chase them up all the time.

    Hi,

I've searched this thread but can't find the answer to my question.

I need to send some documents from the UK to the USA; I need to send them on Thursday for them to arrive on Monday at the latest. Unfortunately the recipient, my new employer, has said I can't use Royal Mail or Parcelforce. I think they've had problems with them in the past.

Just wondered if anyone has needed to send documents (as opposed to parcels) to the US in the past and which company you found to be cheapest.

DHL World Document Express (through Interparcel) seem to be the best option I've found so far. Does anyone have any experience of this particular service? If so, did they collect and deliver on time?

    Thanks.

To answer my own question ... DHL World Document Express (through Interparcel) was the cheapest option I found. Service was good all round - DHL picked up on time and delivered to NYC next day (they originally said it could take 1-4 days.)

Hi, I've noticed that too, we asked and were told they are moving their 0844 number to a different provider. We've been booking as normal and DHL driver turns up as normal. E-mails getting answered as normal too.

Is moving a 0844 number like porting a mobile number to another network?

Yep, can take up to three weeks. That makes sense. Thanks.

I get northern ireland for £8.99 plus vat with parcelbroker up to 15kgs. They give you pre-printed barcode labels so I can leave my parcels out for the driver to collect. Is this cheap?

Looking for a courier to deliver long lengths, the website i use currently can only take 3.6m with TNT max but I have a long tube 4.2m.

Does anyone know of any brokers that use Nightfreight? Can't get an accoutn direct as I only send these infrequently.

Yes, that seems very good. What value does that insure up to? Who is the carrier / delivery time please? Do you have to have an account or can you book one-offs? Sorry for the questions - maybe I should just google it :o

ETA: To answer my own questions - I just tried a dummy booking and it gave me £14.60 + VAT (£8.99 + VAT being for Highlands & Islands) for DHL 2 days service.

    Hi PINGA14,

While we would like to see a 5 out of 5 rating on the site you mentioned we know it's never going to happen as you do have to take so many online reviews with a pinch of salt these days.

We have a 2.3 out of 5 and the two biggest in terms of volume have a 2.1 and a 1.4 so I guess looking at it that way we are not doing too badly.......LOL

I'm puzzled by courier costs. I need to send a 37Kg package (of small hardback books) so I got a 'quick' quote from Parcel Force - £44

Then I notice that Royal Mail offer 'upto 20Kg' for £14, so if I get two of those it's still £16 cheaper?!?!

Has anyone sent a similar package for a good price?

Split the 37kg parcel into two, and send via Parcel2Go with their Home Delivery Network service, £7.13 per parcel and £50 insurance free.
