Strapped - they haven't "introduced" a charge. If you take the £50 insurance it is the same price as it used to be, but cheaper if you don't need that much.

What jordii said. The price has definitely increased for items £20-£50 in value.

Next day delivery and £50 cover used to be £6.87 now its only £20 cover.
I've just looked back as far as April, and I've always been charge £7.04 with vat. Did they drop it for a while?

No, they didn't drop it - it was £6.87 up until very recently. I have been selling multiple items around the £50 mark, so I noticed the increase. Just checked my records - charged £6.87 in July and June (can't be bothered to go back further, sorry) and then £7.04 from August.

ETA: So now, interparcel and parcel2go both offer slightly cheaper, albeit slower, delivery via HDNL for £20-£50 value. I know some people are not keen on HDNL but I haven't had an issue (yet lol). Also, once you go above £250 value, they have services cheaper than the PM CityLink service. Just my little observation and contribution to moneysaving :)

Yep it was £6.87 and I was called something like economy 48 hour delivery or something, but it was ALWAYS City Link next day if you selected that option.

Same here, I don't mind HDNL really. They always come to my house earlier than City Link and the drivers are friendlier too!

My regular City Link driver is a right moody sod! :rotfl:

    Hi,

I've searched this thread but can't find the answer to my question.

I need to send some documents from the UK to the USA; I need to send them on Thursday for them to arrive on Monday at the latest. Unfortunately the recipient, my new employer, has said I can't use Royal Mail or Parcelforce. I think they've had problems with them in the past.

Just wondered if anyone has needed to send documents (as opposed to parcels) to the US in the past and which company you found to be cheapest.

DHL World Document Express (through Interparcel) seem to be the best option I've found so far. Does anyone have any experience of this particular service? If so, did they collect and deliver on time?

    Thanks.

It looks like I have been stung extremely badly by Parcel Monkey. I had City Link damage a £1000 computer. Long story but PM told me on the 9th July that within 28 days they would investigate and compensate me, as I compensated it for the full amount. They had it sent to their company address to inspect it and sent me an e-mail on the 14th acknowledging receipt. SInce then, nothing. And now they are ignoring my e-mails.

This is the worst experience I have ever had with any company in all my life. They have my computer which I could have at least tried to sell for parts to claw some money back, and have in effect stolen it from me.

My own experience has been so bad that I am having to seriously consider getting the police and small claims involved, so I would be extremely wary of sending anything of any value with them
  • Hi dewmass,

Rest assured you have not been stung.

I have just seen your second email to me having missed your one from Friday night.

You are right that no further contact was made from our claims department within the 28 day period and for that I sincerely apoligise.
I will email you tomorrow morning but rest assured we have your PC and you will get compensation for the damage caused in transit.

Hi, I've noticed that too, we asked and were told they are moving their 0844 number to a different provider. We've been booking as normal and DHL driver turns up as normal. E-mails getting answered as normal too.

Is moving a 0844 number like porting a mobile number to another network?
