    Advice please guys...

I am currently selling an expensive item on Ebay and it looks as though the winning bidder is going to be from abroad. In order to cover myself and them I need to send the item fully traceable and trackable from the UK to the confirmed paypal address abroad.

Can anyone suggest a company which offers this service? As i know Royal Mail only track the item until it leaves the UK.

I need full tracking all the way to the final destination. Would DHL or other couriers offer this service of full tracking/tracing and signature at receiver's end ???

    Thanks guys.

All the proper couriers do what you need for instance UPS, DHL, FEDEX, TNT, Parcelforce. DPD etc. When there is a choice i always go UPS as my personal favourite. You might like to consider who you book through as some booking agents have a better record of response to customer care than others in case something goes wrong. Reading some of the old posts will be enlighteneing for you.
  • Conclusion on my recent Parcel Monkey booking. As previously stated, the parcel was picked up on Tuesday late afternoon/ early evening and arrived at the destination the following Monday in good order.

As such, I am grateful it worked out in the end but my complaint still stands - the communication system is appalling.

Credit where credit's due, I found the most help from Nav because he had the decency to speak with me over the phone - all other's prefeered the more time-wasting email system which took 48 hours to get a reply - but it still didn't go according to plan and I had to wait in a total of three days in the end. The first was my own fault - I had to use the toilet when the driver knocked so missed him.

Anyway, once the parcel was collected, Nav called again which my answerphone picked up. I couldn't hear all the message clearly but there was mention of a refund?
I've had no notification of any refund and as the parcel was delivered, I should not be entitled to a refund. Compensation maybe but it's not been actioned AFAICT.

Would I use Parcel Monkey again? Yes, but I wouldn't chose any DHL offerings.

PM, please realise we need live communication when there's a problem, not 2day email responses.

Just used Parcel2Go with DHL. The parcel was collected literally 10 mins after the order was completed. Shows that P2G+DHL have got their act together, also with DHL having a system to alert drivers in the locality. Way to go!

(not pure luck btw, the last time I used this pair of services, same day collection was allowed for order placed around 11 am and collection was that afternoon).
  • Hello!

New to the site, although having looked at all the offers I don't think i'll be away for long!

I have read through a lot of the thread as my parents are moving to Austrailia and are looking for some cheap removal/courier/haulage for most of their belongings, which as is not the cheapest, they are determined to get the best deal.

Obviously the big names corner the market in relation for large quantities of items, but I was wondering if there were recommendations on this, with ad hoc enquiries?

I was suprised to see that the 'comparison sites' have moved into this area, with Shiply and Delivery Quote Compare being the ones most noticeable, but only Delivery Quote Compare do comparisons for international removals outside of Europe.

I have submitted an enquiry this morning and I'm waiting for them to get back to me.

Just wondered if anyone had used these sites (especially DQC as that is the one that applies to me) and had any positive or negative experiences.

Obviously a comparsion site for this takes away the need to search individuals and i would rather use these to take away the hassle of helping with the move (me being the techno savvy youngster apparantly, I have to do this for them!)

It all looks simple enough and will hopefully give me a cheap deal, but any help from the experts would be appreciated.

    Thanks In Advance :)

Personally if I was moving to the other side of the world I wouldn't go for the cheapest quote I would go for the best company with the best reputation I could afford.

When I last moved 500 miles I had some damage due to me picking the cheapest over a better one.

It's worth thinking about cheapest isn't always best

Thanks Cyberbob, it is certainly an important consideration!!

I would like to think though that anyone that provides a service as big as trans-continental transportation, isn't going to be in the habit of providing a shoddy service (although I could be wrong), which is why my original point was to see if anyone had any experiences with the Comparsion sites themselves.

    Any bad/non delivery experiences?
Did the service do everything it says it does, and did the quotes recieved undercut anything you found direct?

They don't leave for another 8 months so there's plenty of time to find the best option hopefully!

I recieved 2 replies on delivery quote compare this morning; one good, one not so good, I have the facilty to ask questions of the supplier and there are also positive testimonials (although they don't give away the name) so I am confident of their service.

Was hoping to see if anyone could share their own experiences, if any!
  • I just used Parcels Please which i discovered on money saving listings.

(i did post links to the money saving page and to parcels please but apparently i'm not allowed to as a newcomer :undecided although ive been around quite a while i just dont post very often :cool2: -but i'm sure people will be able to find the company concerned from the money saving home page on the topic)

Parcel was collected tuesday am and delivered in the netherlands thursday am, it weighed 3.5 kg and cost £11.50.

I have to say i was very impressed at the fast delivery, the parcel was a few home luxuries to our daughter in the netherlands and got there quicker than Royal Mail can deliver a letter- even sent first class- (it took them 5 days to get her birth certificate there even sent first class airmail special delivery).

Parcel Force wanted £36 to take the same parcel.

Parcels Please have an online 'chat box' where you can talk to a member of thier staff in real time, kyle, who i asked a couple of questions from was excellent and very helpful.

The parcel was collected by Interlink in the UK and delivered by DPD in the netherlands (parent company of interlink i think).

Can't fault the service at all and i'm happy to recommend them and will certainly use them again next time our daughter needs stocking up :rotfl:

Glad you had a good experience with them. Mine was the total opposite. 3 days late picking the parcel up. Item was to be delivered in 2. After 3 days contacted CS no answer. Spent the next 10 days trying to contact them. finally after 10 days plus item arrived at my customer. No apology or anything from PP.

I lost money on a sale as I had to refund some money to my customer to keep them happy.

    Personally I would avoid them.
