I'm sending a parcel via Parcel2Go to my daughter in New Zealand. I'm trying to work out how much customs/tax she is likely to be charged at her end and have emailed their customs office but no reply received. Can anyone give me a rough idea please? It comes to a total of around £120 worth of gifts - various including a digital photo frame, books and jeans. I'd like to send her the money to cover this so she won't be out of pocket.

Thanks. That's easier to understand than the advice they've given me:Thank you for your enquiry,
New Zealand customs will work off the purchase price converted to New Zealand dollars.
Customs allows for a genuine gift allowance of $110 off the purchase price.
Then tax if the amount payable then comes to $50 or more Customs will collect the tax.
Then tax the jeans would be the highest tax at 10% on the value converted to New Zealand dollars.
Then GST on the value + the insurance and freight to get the jeans to New Zealand converted to New Zealand dollars + duty x 12.5%somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0 -
Just a note of caution for anyone using DHL and dropping off at the depot. I did this, and thanks to a previous poster, used collectmyparcel. On DHL's site it gave me Manchester as the only drop off. On getting there they didn't deal with domestic at all and told me to go to Ashton - 15 miles away and much more convenient, unmentioned on the website.
Now I know, I'm sorted. But I missed the first hour of an auction which is where I source much of my stuff. Ring them first.0 -

Hi, yes I've done this before too. There are DHL depots just for UK Domestic and European Road Services and there are DHL Depots just for International stuff.
Found this on collectmyparcel.com, collectmyparcel.com/dhldropoff.html
Does anyone know - if it's a UK to UK parcel and you're dropping it off at the DHL depot (and you have the DHL reference number) can it be any Domestic depot or does it have to be the one that would be collecting your parcel?
P.S. collectmyparcel.com were very good, they text me the DHL reference number the morning I was going to the depot, so at least I wasn't waiting for an e-mail. Hate it when the kids are texting all the time but suddenly was chuffed to find a real use for a text :rotfl:0 -

They're not cheap though are they. £9.99 for up to 10Kg? Which carrier do they use? You have Parcel Monkey available for £5.99+VAT for up to 10Kg. NextDay2Go are also £12.99 for up to 20Kg whereas collectmyparcel.com are £8.75 inc VAT for up to 30Kg. Just seems really expensive to me.0
