  • Dont know about DHL but i use UPS and all the parcels i sent on Friday are still at the export hub, so they will have a back log.
  • I have had a bit of a read thru' of this thread, but can't seem to find the answer to my question, so here goes......I remember reading of one delivery company that uses DHL and lets you drop your parcel off at the DHL depot, can anyone shed any light on which company this was.

    TIA

    Hi

They should all let you do that. We use collectmyparcel.com, if it's one where we know we won't be in for collection, we book it just the same as normal and then e-mail them asking for the reference number, if we leave a mobile number they text it.

Good to know. Compared to the monkey business, they are a bit pricy for 10 kilo, but convenience may be a deciding factor.

Yes that's true, but good price if you have heavier stuff, all our stuff is 20Kg plus.

I have been told I can do the same thing by City Link if I book through parcelmonkey, just told to let the driver know. Not sure how I would do the latter, but better than hanging about all day.

Does anyone know how the "proper" DHL Express Couriers who fly parcels internally to destinations in UK are coping with the lack of flights?

The Main International services are basically grounded. At the end of last week UPS and Fedex were using the hub in Israel as a stop gap for the European destinations and then switching to road from there.

But there are huge backlogs already, and now even that option is blocked off.

And then when the airspace is released I think that the authorities priorities are going to be on people rather than freight, so I anticipate that the freight services won't be running back to normal for the rest of the week. I think that basically, best to plan for no deliveries this week, keep hold of the consignments so that they don't end up in a stockpile somewhere, and then send when service is heading back to normal.

For European, I would suggest the DPD road services, and Parcelforce's Euro services that are road based, because these should be getting through pretty much as normal.

Don't forget the Scottish Islands also, many of these all receive mail by air, and the ferry services are only once or twice a week.

I live very close to Prestwick airport, that see a lot of freight air traffic, as well as getting the Edinburgh and Glasgow overflow, and at present nada. However, we did see the test flight go over last night.

    Will watch with interest.

Dont really post outside the uk but have a request for shipment to New Zealand. Which courier would be cheapest for that part of the world? Thanks

    rich130867,

OK having looked into your case you will get a full refund.
The problem came about due to a booking needing to be stopped which was one digit out from yours. Nothing sinister but simple human error and once again on behalf of our business sorry.

Live chat is on the main page during the working day.

I will put forward you views, and that of others, tomorrow regarding the label and email you in person with regards to our decision on business use.

Parcel Monkey representative. Am I going to get someday a refund and compensation of the lost items sent in January and no one from your company has been able to sort out (not even I can get hold of anyone)
