How odd, my parcels on monday from monday are tracking fine, i wonder if your collection person didnt scan it correctly.
i remember speaking to my collection woman and she said they dont do many collections at the moment, its mainly deliveries for next, thorntons etc but she did say they are getting busier and busier. i would mention it next time they collect (should you carry on using them) - i think they scan the parcel and scan a 'receipt' which you should keep - that also has a bar code on it.0 -
I have had an email from Linda at City Link who runs our account following her conversation with you this afternoon.
Once the items have been tracked down she will contact you and they will be shipped. Following this compensation can be sorted out.
For obvious reasons it's too early to sort anything out now as the items may turn up over the weekend and be delivered on Monday.
Rest assured though we take each case seriously and I will monitor the situation.
On behalf of City Link sorry once again for the situation you find yourself in.

@ Parcelmonkey rep - please can you contact me, I have sent 3 e-mails last week via the contact us form on your website regarding discussing compensation for the late delivery of my parcels and also for the original failed collections which led up to this, no-one has responded to date.
Parcelmonkey rep – you seem to still be about and responding to queries/complaints on here, any chance you might stick by your word and actually contact me regarding compensation for the late delivery of my 2 packages which you mentioned previously? The lack of response/customer service is appalling and definitely does not reflect well on your company.
Again, I apologise to other users for singling out Parcelmonkey/using this thread to try and elicit a response from them but I fear if I start a new thread they would not bother to read it/it would get lost amongst all the other threads.
To get back on topic, I have switched to using Parcel2go (DHL) whose service is impeccable and you also get £4 cashback at Quidco.0 -
Can anyone recommend a cheap/reliable courier to take a parcel weighing around 4kg and 19 inches high by 12 inches from Midlands to Glasgow. Do not need a same day service just cheap delivery option.
Also as one off delivery not sure if any opportunity to get any first delivery Quidco or other promotional offer.0 -
Think the previous comment should tick your box, £4 quidco cashback from parcel2go.0

I don't think I'll ever use them again. Just got notified by PayPal of a payment reversal for that item - as it hasn't tracked I'll probably lose  I assume they just left it with the buyer (no signature). They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0 -

I hope this is not too off topic, but I am not really familiar with couriers and such like. I have some paintings to sell, I have been limiting myself to collection only but have had a number of people ask whether I could courier them instead.
My stupid question of the day is, is there a 'standard' way of wrapping pictures as I just don't know where to start. i had thought of using fruit boxes and paper and bubble wrap but would that be enough for a courier?
Then when I get quotes from couriers would i need to ask whether paintings are covered insurance wise? These are all sub £100 but in fairly heavy frames and mostly glass fronted. It was the glass that concerned me as I note from some of the other posts that glass is often excluded via courier insurance.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. you are asking for trouble shipping pictures with glass. I think you have to decide if it is worth the risk as it will be you who loses if it gets broken as no courier is going to pay for damage to glass.
The equation would be " is the increased prices i can get going to be sufficient to offset having to pay for any damages".
You do not say how big they are - i would think a picture more than 3ft sq has a good chance of arriving daamged no matter how well you pack, if they are small pics say 12 inches sq then i can see how these might well survive.
I bought a 3ft by 2 ft mirror and that arrived OK. It was set in custom made blocks of expanded polystyrene on each corner all mounted in a sturdy cardboard box that was about 4 inches bigger all round with the interspace packed with polystrene peanuts. Be awar mirrors are often 6mm thick any picture glass only 3mm - very weak.
I think your choice of courier will have only a lesser effect on the outcome.
You need to avoid the mickey mouse couriers and stay with mainstream couriers with proper online tracking and signature on delivery. Those that deliver quickly are less likely to damage than those who take 5 days and decant and reload several times
Of the mainstream couriers UPS with their custom made brown vans are the only couriers with racking in the back to hold parcels. The Johnnies with white vans are just that - a white van and if you picture travels with a consignement of anvils god help it.0 -
Thank you for that. I have been doing some test weighing with fruit boxes and I actually couldn't see how on earth I could lift the thing once I had wrapped it well enough. Some of these are several kilos even before I start wrapping.
I'll stick to collection only and am going to try the small ads as well.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Does anyone know how the "proper" DHL Express Couriers who fly parcels internally to destinations in UK are coping with the lack of flights?0
