Strange one with myhermes only doing UK delivery, I had a parcel from Germany recently and that was sent via Hermes, I am assuming it is the same company.

Hermes is a German co in the first place and collects in Germany for dispatch to European countries. It's UK offspring seems to have a more limited functionality, especially attacking the Ebay user market (apparently, Hermes was promoted by Ebay when a RM strike threatened). Which is ironic since Ebay sellers are very keen to avoid bad feedback caused by postal mixups.

Cheers, I notice that it's an extra £1 for a signature, but at £6.86 I may give them a try. (Someone remind me what the bad press was first lol?)

Are you still able to check that it has been delivered?
  • Yes, you have a tracking link, more often than not they get a signature even if you dont want one but similarly you can designate a safe location to leave a parcel if the recipient is not in.

As with all couriers and as has previously been said, its horses for courses, lots of couriers get bad reviews. I've been through parcel2go, parcelmonkey, parcelbee, saletrack and despatch bay however myhermes is outperforming the lot of them. no failed collections, no losses, no damage, no returns, no complaints. it all depends what you are sending, hermes arent suitable for everyone, suppose they are a bit like ryanair charging extra for signatures, extra insurance, but if you can get away with not needing the extras, they are unbeatable cost wise.

the only gripe i have with hermes is that you have to book before 8pm for next day collection, maybe they will improve this with time?

In theory, yes - what drumbillet said. Although I have just checked this morning, and got the message, "Sorry, there are no records matching your details. Please check that you have entered the correct information or contact your retailer for assistance"...which is disappointing. Hopefully it will update at some point!
