Hi
Thanks to Junior
I phoned today and was told there is no special deal and I don't need to renew. Just carry on. I asked for a MAC code, then the tune was changed where I was put through tetention team and was offered 3 months free or £5.
So I took it.
Best wishes

(1) If you are on the O2 LLU, you do not need to be connected to BT.
(2) If you are not, you will be on the BT exchange and therefore, will need BT.
You will know by typing in the postcode and telephone number.
Alternatively you can look at Samknows.
Anyway, stay away from non-LLU (hence, BT) O2 home broadband access. At the moment they are having major problems with it. Mainly due to them not willing to pay anymore money for bandwidth space. They are now saving all their money to try and unbundle the network.
The exchange I am connected to does have LLU. I have a BT phone line and pay monthly rent charge only to use O2's broadband, and don't really use the phone much at all. I am not sure I understand what you said correctly. Do you mean I can cancel my BT phone line and still continue to receive the broadband service from O2 ??0 -

Hi all,
My O2 Home Broadband 12-month contract is just about to expire.
I am current on Home Premium paying £15/mth. Connection is very good and I am quite happy with them. I do not have O2 mobile line though.
Spoke to their retentions team and the guy offered me another 12-month contract for £10/mth or if I have a friend on O2 mobile to get his/her number and they would offer me a 12-month contract for £7.50. He said that there wouldn't be anything attached/obligation to my friend.
Does anyone know anything about it? It is strange or do they just want to get a friend's number so they can try to sell broadband package to them?
Comments are appreciated.0 -
That sounds like a good deal - O2 Premium is normally £15/mth or £10/mth if you have an O2 mobile.
The guy asking for you to give an O2 mobile number is completely normal - all O2 mobile phone customers get a discount on their O2 home broadband package. I think it's a £5 discount per month across all packages.
You can do it with a pay monthly or pay as you go - as long as you top up at least £10 a month.
You can use someone else's O2 mobile number - it doesn't have to be registered at the same address or to the same person - but you can only have 1 home broadband discount per O2 mobile number (so if you used a friend's number, they couldn't get a discount for themselves - unless you cancelled your O2 broadband first).
Hope this helps!0 -

Go for it and get the discounted rate. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
If you can't borrow a friend's 02 number, (doesn't have to be at your address) then get an old mobile, shove an O2 SIM in it, do the £10 top up every 3 months. Cost: £40pa.
O2 broadband mobile discount is £5pm, or £60pa.
So even if you don't use the O2 mobile at all, you are still £20pa ahead.
They even text you to remind you to top up before the 3m deadline is reached.
It's a no-brainer.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Slightly different scenario here.
My O2 standard package is coming to it's 12 month renewal soon. Currently pay £7.34 per month. Happy with the service and price but want to see if I can save more.
If I cancelled with them and went via Quidco as a new customer...
a)would I get the cashback?
b)would I get the 2 months free?
Basically, would I be treated as a new customer/new connection by both O2/Quidco to qualify for the offer?
Thanks0 -
Thanks all
Now I need to find somebody to give me an O2 number, otherwise I may migrated my Virgin PAYG to O2 Simplicity 1-month @ £10
Let's see what I can manage....0 -
