    Thanks for that.

No I don't (at least I do but it's never switched on). Which is ironic considering I develop software for them!
well you can get £5 discount a month if you link an O2 sim card

and you need to top up £10 every 3 months

    So saving on internet = 12 * 5 = £60
    and cost of topping up = 4*10 = £40
So even if you don't use the credit you save £20 (for people who do use the credit saving is £20 plus the first additional £40 you would top up by normally)

After the first 12 months are off phone them up and say you will sign up for 12 months more if they give you a discount - they should offer £4.48
  • Hi,

I am gutted because I signed up for a new broadband contract 2 months ago which I am now locked into for 12 months but have just got off the phone to O2 who informed me I could have got 12 months free with them, no catches, just for being a loyal customer.

Therefore I would like to inform all long-term 02 customers (12 months plus probably) that if they ring O2 to ask something trivial about their account, like I did, that they might be offered the same 'treat'. Obviously this will only be useful for O2 customers who don't already have a broadband contract in place or whose broadband deal is coming to an end.

Hope this tip helps at least a few people though.

NB you do need to have a BT phoneline to get O2 broadband.

  • You do or you don't have to be on a BT exchange to get O2 broadband.

    (1) If you are on the O2 LLU, you do not need to be connected to BT.
    (2) If you are not, you will be on the BT exchange and therefore, will need BT.

You will know by typing in the postcode and telephone number.

Alternatively you can look at Samknows.

Anyway, stay away from non-LLU (hence, BT) O2 home broadband access. At the moment they are having major problems with it. Mainly due to them not willing to pay anymore money for bandwidth space. They are now saving all their money to try and unbundle the network.

  • Thanks so much..i managed to speak to O2 CS and get my free 12 months broadband freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee:D!!!...lol

Hey TEDDYRUKSPIN ,i like your motto 'If you don't ask, you don't get!!'
  • Ive just started a new 12 month broadband contract and have been with o2 mobile for years.

I applied for BB through quidco and £75 has tracked. Do you think i could call up and ask for free BB? Or might this affect quidco paying out?
  • Received an email from o2 giving me 3 months free if I sign up for the next 12 months, my contract will be up in January. Apparently this offer ends on 30 November but I think I'll wait until January and see what they offer me then :)
  • I have been with o2 for over a year and if I stay another year they will give me 3 months fee access. As I am now unemployed this seems a tempting offer but is there a better deal out there ?
  • Further to above, if you ring 0800 9541363 you can have choice of 3 months free or £2.50 per month discount for 12 months. As my monthly charge was already discounted as I am an O2 mobile phone user I was better-off taking the £2.50 p.m.
