I often use the phrase when a discussion is going round in circles, people clearly have differing opinons, neither of which are wrong......so no matter how many times they restate this point they will never quite agree, so they agree to disagree!

Am I the only one that thinks that people that bully or intimidate via internet forums do so because they lack the !!!!!!!! the talk and debate with people IRL?0

i have skimmed trough the replies so sorry if i'm repeating, but i can say i have had bad experience on here too.
i used to post on a long running thread and some thing i said about my dd was highlighted by several people and used in their posts, i was very put out and angry a the person who started it as she didn't even bother to read my post properly or ask me.
as it happens i haven't joined in that board since as i felt kind of picked on.0 -
Or they could avoid pointless clich!s and just disagree. There's nothing wrong with disagreeing. And yes, it often takes a humble person to instigate the end of a circular discussion.
'agree to disagree' is what sensible people have been saying for years to instigate the end of a circular discussion... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

As for the search thing, there is a guide to how to search somewhere, if I could do a linky thing I would! Though I appreciate that anyone new wouldn't necessarily expect to find a guide to it, and mostly people are pretty helpful about directing posters to the correct thread and the board guides do a great job providing links as well.
I hope that this is all sorted out quickly.
Here is Squeakys thread on searching.
if you are ever lost and want to find it, it is in a sticky thread at the top of the OS board (post says containts info ons earching). I genuinely didn't understand searching for ages, but now can find things in seconds! :j it's like a little game I play with myself.
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

I disagree in that it's not what "sensible" people have been saying; sensible people just disagree. You make it seem like disagreeing isn't acceptable. I think it's normal whereas "agree to disagree" is pandering to clich! and is completely unnecessary.0 -
I don't post often but I read all the time and I hav to say I love the OS board. I read the daily every day and sometimes post and I have seen one or two posters that seem to hop on just to cause ttrouble it seems.
I have to say the ones that I find most rude are the ones who 'know everything' and will sometimes just type in one sentence to 'correct' you and then put a winky smilie on the end to mke it all Ok. Patronising someone isn't ok even with a smilie on the end IMHO.
I use the thanks button occasionally to mark my place but mostly I just literally thank the ones i agree with.0 -

It's blantanly pointless. Why over-state an intent?
Yes, but no more so than disagreeing.
I'm just happy to disagree. No problem. No animosity. No agression. Just respectful disagreement.
No, absolutely not, I completely refuse. Out of sheer bloody-minded self-respect, I will not surrender to ill-thought clich!. I will disagree with you..
