Apparently Blu Ray drives are coming to the Xbox 360, that's surprised me.

thats been said many times
i dont believe it this late into the 360's life
maybe for the next round of consoles,but M$ would be keener to push digital downloads(as they do now with the 360)
if they do then user upgradeable hard drives are a must

I don't see why not, the Xbox 360 still has years left in it's lifecycle..

well good luck to them however i dont see a massive uptake unless they make it cheap or perhaps PC compatible could be the answer


they need to be careful here,they already changed the core specs adding HDMI and adding bluray again changes the core if its built in.
maybe i will get a free upgrade having a HD DVD drive

Even if the 360 does get bluray, it cant be used for games as the core of the 360 is dvd

By releasing it as an accessory and not integrating it into the console it would give them the freedom to further slash the price of the console to put even more pressure on Sony while still offering a complete featureset.

but wheres the benefit?
i can get a standalone big name BR player for not much over £100
so what does the 360 drive offer over that?

Bluray is ONLY a storage device
Its down to whats needed to fit on a disc.
I must say id be suprised if PS3s UNCHARTED 2 would fit on a dvd without cutting some of it out (or SERIOUSLY compressing it)
