Ps3 or Xbox

It all depends what kind of games your son plays, would he like to play online oh and what console do his mates have as it would be a good idea to get the same 1 as them so he could play online with them0
-
So its quantity and not quality?
No. I just thought I'd post it as the conversation was getting around to exclusive titles. For my part, I'm certainly not disappointed with the line-up on the Xbox 360, though the PS3 certainly has some nice titles too.
A prospective purchaser should buy whatever console has the games they want to play.I dont have an argument, I just dont like Microsoft
I'd certainly rather use Microsoft's products than Sony's (and this is from a dyed in the wool Mac user).
From rootkits on CDs, to removing features and calling it an upgrade, to making stupid little proprietary connectors for every bloody little thing, Sony are innovators in finding new ways to suck.0 -

can the ps3 play HD-Disks as well as Blue-Ray?0

PS3 all the way....they are well worth the money0

From what I can gather, each console has its own advantages.
I own a PS3 and see the advantages as
-built in blu ray
-wireless built in
-free online play
I've never owned an xbox and only briefly used one - that was a at least a year ago.
Pros for the xbox as far as i can tell are
-modular set up ie you only buy the bits you want to use (i paid for a blu ray in the PS3 whether i use it or not)
-it's windows and by that i mean you can network it easily to your pc/laptop (i know the PS3 can too but i think it's less straightforward)
-it's cheaper.
It's all very well going on about exclusive games but the list will mean something different to every gamer. I mean if you love gran turismo then it might sway you towards PS3 but if you're a Halo fan then you go the other way.
When I saw the xbox working it was almost identical to the PS3 in terms of graphics (GRAW2) but I did like how it could be hooked up to my mates network without much effort.
From a personal point of view I'd go with the PS3 but if i was starting from scratch and all my mates had xbox then I'd more than likely go down that route.
The "which is better" arguement will rage forever so I'd say it's down to your son and what his pals all play will probably influence his decision quite a bit.

Willing to offer advice on camera equipment and photography if i can!0 -
There's only really the Elite (the black one) and the Arcade (the basic one) available now, and out of the two I'd chose the Elite because it has the largest hard drive available for the Xbox 360 which gives you the option to install games directly to it in order to reduce the noise and wear on the DVD drive by not having the disc spinning.
.
bought xbox 360 for my son, never realised you could download the games to the hard drive, how do you do this?? many thanks in advance for your helpWhat goes around - comes around

make sure your dashboard is fully updated
with the disc in the drive browse to the xbox tab that shows the game
IIRC the yellow Y button rips to the drive(you should see the option),you still need the game in the drive to play though0
