EVERY company lies to a certain extent, but Microsoft have made a living out of it

To be fair to the PS2, when it came to the end of its life it was pushing graphics people didnt think possible (God Of War 2 for example)

yes but never met or even got near the claims the emotion engine was touted to be capable of
i should add i have owned many consoles way before the playstation generation

The only God Of War ive played is on PSP (Which is very good actually)

GOW3 looks awesome, BUT, it seems they havnt really done anything different to GOW2 from what ive heard (Just better graphics obviously)
To my mind EVERY new incarnation should be a step up in not just graphics, but gameplay etc

Ill stick my neck out and say Uncharted 2 is a better game than GOW3

Right il give my input, i currently own an xbox (on my 2nd one infact due to wanting a bigger hd/hdmi and a red xbox)

When people talk about these PS3 or Xbox threads the ps3 fanboy always throws up the fact that a ps3 is wireless and u need to fork out £40 for an adapter for the xbox, but in all honesty even if the xbox was wireless id still opt to use ethernet due to the better connection and the fact that wireless can drop at any second(i dont even use wireless on my laptop)

You should really find out what system your sons friends have because it would be better for him to play online with them etc but you can make loads of friends through different games.

You get iplayer on the ps3 woopy doo, i get it no my laptop and iphone.
Xbox has different features such as twitter/facebook/last.fm & sky, yet u can get them on laptop aswel.

Blu-ray i wouldnt bother with dvd is gonna be about for a long time to come.

Games wise there are exclusives on both but xbox seem to have more in-game exclusives for the cross platform games eg GTA add-ons, Modern warfare 2 map-packs.

Controller wise i find the xbox controller very comfy and easy to use.

If your gonna get either then get a big hd, in ps3 case maybe slim and in xbox case id go for the modern warfare 2 super elite it has a 250gb hd

Have only updated in about the last 4 months from a PS2, and I upgraded to a 360. I prefer the 360 as it has a wide range of games, the second hand consoles and games are pretty cheap to get hold of (as are the hard drive, 20GB for 20 quid was the deal I got) The onyl extra I'd suggest is the plug and play recharge packs, I've got two of the batteries and one of the cords so I plugged one in and charged it, then plugged the other in and charged it.

i just charge then via the PC as its on 24/7
