hope your meeting has gone well this morning - thankfully my DD seems to be ok at her school.

I remeber a lad on our school bus use to put his hand up our very short skirts (it was the 80's fashion!) weell one day a girl turned round and punched him. His parents reported the girl, and inevitably we all had to say what he used to do. His parents were totally horrified and he was refused entry on the school bus, thank god someone had the decency to sort things out.

I hope you finally get some answers.

I just dont get this - why am i being unreasonable if i went up the school next day and demanded it got sorted out? the OP in my opinion was much more than reasonable and believed school when they said it was being investigated. two weeks on and her daughter wants it dropped as she is being confused by school - OP has had the runaround (diff people phoning her - other matters being brought up) so where would I be unreasonable in expecting this matter to have been sorted out by now?
the OPs daughter was victim of a sexual assualt!!! get that into your heads! she is a CHILD for gods sake. we are adults and fully capable of handling this situation - I dont like it but its happened to me on couple of occasions and i turn around and damn well punch the one closest! am I a violent person? probably to some of you - but - for reasons i wont go into - I dont take touching private parts lightly.
I am sorry if some of you think i am unreasonable - I feel so sorry for the OPs daughter. and am so angry with the school - arggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh they have dealt with it so badly its unbelievable.

I'm with you tandraig, it seems the school have (through malice, ignorance or negligence) intimidated the child into making a false statement. If it were another child who had done this we'd label them a bully.

Didn't get chance to pop on yesterday too update sorry, was busy busy busy!

    Well, the meeting was....erm....interesting!

It transpires (regardless of the year 7 handbook I have!), that the HOY isn't infact HOY, but a head of learning, and the male teacher isn't a head of learning but an assistant head?!

The HOL (who i thought was HOY!), explained that each time I'd asked her to call me, the male AH (assistant head, god this is confusing sorry!) took over and said he would. (but didn't)

She said that as he was her deputy, if he told her he was going to sort it, then she couldn't go over what he said (which is understandable).

I got lots of apologies from her when she said that once the AH took over that it was out of her hands and that he should have explained that to me.

Told her that throughout, nobody had told me who they were in regards to the school and that I had gone by the handbook as to who had what role, which prompted me to contact who i did.

Still not happy and it's all bloody confusing to think about, let alone write down, so I'm going to draft a letter over the weekend for the headmaster (who I KNOW is the headmaster!) and see what he makes of it all.

DD did ask me to drop it, but I will still get a letter together to tell the head what a shambles their communication system is and see what his response is.

Does seem like the school dont know what they are doing BUT isnt it time to listen to your daughter, although I guess you know best

I KNOW this post will get me into trouble but will damn well say it anyway. the school have successfully given you the runaround hun. You are now ready to drop it and just put in a complaint about the way your grievance is handled to the headmaster.
It isnt to late to talk to the police you know. they have taken on cases where the assualt happened years before - never mind a couple of weeks. just explain how the school has handled it.
the reason I think you should take it further - someone assualted your daughter and has got away with it. they will now think they can go further - either assualt your daughter again or someone elses! and do you think it may go further than copping a feel? I do. needs to be nipped in the bud now. shellsuit, I am worried here about the attitude of the school - the confusion over who was dealing with it - the job titles etc. sounds dodgy to me.
I am sure your daughter just wants to forget it ever happened and i dont blame her! but you sound very responsible person to me. would you want to hear about something worse happening? I would take it further but would understand if you dropped it for daughters sake.
