You are right we haven't had sound on here for a while !
you have lost your sound driver. If you can let the hardware wizard proceed with the update process and let it search on the internet for the driver, you might be able to get the sound back again!Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -

Very strange. I'll explain that in a moment. But first, can you go into the control panel, and look up in add/remove programs Microsoft Office. (By the way, click the little show updates box at the top first). Does it show that there has been a lot of updates relating to Office installed? If so, are there any service packs listed in that list under Microsoft Office?Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -

Lots of windows xp security updates but no service
From what I can gather, it is trying to install service pack 3 without installing service pack 1 or 2. Although Microsoft state it isn't necessary to have them before installing, I wonder if it would help to have them before installing SP3?
Service pack 1 is here and service pack 2 is here.
Try 1 first. If it doesn't want to do it, you'll soon know about it!Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -
