I assume that's just a stray question mark in there! If it is, do you have the disc for Office XP, or did it come preinstalled on your computer?

  • If you go into Windows or Microsoft update through the start menu, and scan for all recommend updates, and this particular update is there, it will have a description underneath it. It should also give a KB....... code. Can you tell us if it is the same one as listed above?

    It came pre-installed
  • Ok, it sounds like it is trying to update a feature within Office that either wasn't installed on your computer, or has become corrupted. Do you have any recovery disks with your computer?

How do I find out what that is ?
Go to StartHelp and Support, select "Keep your computer up-to-date with Windows Update" and - when it appears - click Custom. You will then get a list of the updates available to you.

[STRIKE]If you see something like this instead, you'll need to install Service Pack 3 for Windows XP.[/STRIKE]

But it appears to be service pack 3 for Office XP, not Windows XP that is causing the problems. Does the OP not already have Windows XP SP3?
