  • The notice is only there when I log in... which is fine for folk that log in but provides no warning for those casual members just browsing the forum...
I'm logged in though & I don't see it. My sister has had her account here longer than me and I've seen the message on her computer when she's logged in, so I know what should be there, but it's not there for me
  • Press ctrl and F5 and it should appear.

It hasn't. I cleared out cache/cookies etc today too  is it because I don't have the spam & expired buttons that I don't see this? I can't be the only one surely?

Any chance of altering the downtime to 11.00-midnight? That would suit my bedtime routine better? :D

I'm not sure if this will help or not but I've just gone from having 80,000+ subscriptions down to 1 and I'm comping the same way as I was (but quicker as I'm not marking all the ones I look at!)

I changed the view of the comping board by clicking the 'New Topic View' button at the top of the forum, this then listed comps in the order posted regardless of when the last thing was posted on their thread, now I just subscribe to the last comp posted before I finish on here for the night and it worked fine overnight, I got up this morning, changed the view over and looked through the first few pages till I found my tick and started again from there! Now I don't have to subscribe to loads and loads of threads and I've deleted all the subs I did have :D

Its worked really well for me, but it's up to each of you to find something that works :)

    1. From 10pm this Thursday, October 8th, we are taking the Forum down for an hour to delete a large number of old subscriptions - every thread that hasn't been updated for 6 months of more will have it subs removed.

    2. We are going to switch everyone's automatic thread subscription setting to "Do not subscribe". If you want to change this,. you will need to go into your User CP - Edit Options - Messaging & Notification section and change the setting back.

    3. We are considering setting a subscription limit to try and minimise the resource this consumes but we'll make that decision after we've done the deletion and see where that gets us.

I bet the forum is breathing a huge sigh of relief now. Like shifting a nasty cold or something

    Ok, I'll see myself out...

thx for that - TOTAL overkill

now i've lost some threads i really wanted to keep
you've gone from 4yrs to 6m - thats the overkill

comps end dates can be upto a year ahead and would be nice to have been subscribed to them ones

why didnt you just try taking it down from 4yrs to 2 and see how that went, or even 18m, 14m should have been the absolute cutoff but even if you did 12m that would be twice as good as what we've got now and been left with

righto, now im off to hunt thru all my emails 6m or older to click on re-subcribe - cheeers

to be honest I comp alot and I still dont get why people subscribe to the comps, the only ones I subscribe to are the ones that I have posted or have posted on. I also delete any gameovered ones a couple of times a month which takes no time at all. If you know roughly where youa re upto with entering comps and also use the thanks button then what is the need for subscriptions
