Did it get very warm? Did the fan run all the time? Or not at all?
It could've been something a simple as a virus.
It was hardly likely that the processor would need replacing because of that. And that's the expensive bit! (By the way, do you still have your computer, or did you leave it with them again? If you still have it, can you look up what the processor is by right clicking my computer and going to properties. Also post up how much RAM it states on the same screen.)Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -

4 hours to put XP on? What a joke. Takes an hour max as I recall.
I would be asking for receipt of the original transaction (processor, RAM etc.), and tell us, then if you give us his details, I'll go round there and sort him out.0 -

Exactly. He must be a very slow worker. I reformatted my hard drive and re-installed XP. It was done within half an hour. And I just left it to get on with itself for 20 minutes of that half hour. Fair enough, I didn't fit a hard drive, but that would take another half an hour max.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -

Thanks for the offer... your post put a smile on my face for the first time today! but I am gonna put it down to being thick and not trusted my gut instinct to buy a new computer rather than pay out £185 plus £15 today for him to tell me I dropped it (which I never did) and my drive is cracked which is why it is showing low memoryI am determined to lose weight!:kisses3:

Where did you get the system from? If it was put together by one of the larger manufacturers we should be able to figure out what was originally inside.0

Well, unfortunately, you've more than likely been robbed of £185, with the possibility of another £130. You need someone to sort that shop out, without paying them another penny. It's very possible they've charged for work not done. (which was why I was looking for the processor name earlier!)Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -
