    CD/DVD Drive (D)

When you click on MY COMPUTER
It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical

Right-click Local Disk, select Properties and look under the Hardware tab. What can you see?

Go to Control Panel > Administrative tools > Computer Management > click on Disk Management in the left hand column.

Any sign of more space there?

(would you know how to post a screenshot hosting it somewhere like https://www.imageshack.us ?)

Your computer shop sound like a bunch of cowboys from the response they gave.... for £140 they should have installed a huge drive over 1TB.... you probably only needed a few hundred GB costing about £50-70.... if its only 8GB odd it will be 10 years old and worth about £2
  • Your disk drive IS your hard drive,.
Looks like your PC shop ripped you off by giving you a tiny replacement hard drive and now they are trying to fool you with technical jargon.

Your disk drive IS your hard drive
To clarify, there are two types of 'drive' in your computer: the hard disk drive (HDD) and the optical disc drive (CD-ROM/CD-RW/DVD-ROM/DVD±RW). If you provide the model number of your HDD, we can tell you its maximum storage capacity.
