PS as per my earlier post I desperately desperatley hope you have got something in writing this time???? about your "cracked" hard disk???
  • That's a US model. What's the UK equivalent?

It's the same as the UK model, but they don't list all the specs for it. It can be found on the UK site here.

I did not ask for it in writing... I will go back tomorrow and ask for the print out of the work they did for me and also ask for a print out of the cracked drive

  • So, when new the computer had:

AMD 2800+ processor (downgrade to 1.80Ghz)
80GB Hard drive (!!!!!! happened there - downgrade to 8GB?)
256MB Memory (ok, so that was an upgrade to 1GB - max allowed)
A fan (and another fan - why?)

Go to trading standards and tell them the whole story. Use this thread for reference.

I agree, they may even suggest the police on the hard drive pinching alone... again if you can get anything in writing it should be more than enough rope to hang him by

you have almost certainly been lied to, opening the case and looking at the sticker on the hard drive should prove what you've got. there is no such thing as a 'cracked' hard drive which is why if you can get this in writing.......(see above)

In my reckoning, if your computer was dropped, it just wouldn't turn on again. The hard drive would be knackered.
