Absolute disaster last night, really fell off the wagon.
3 cans of lager, a lamb rogan josh followed by ICE CREAM.

Went for a good long 50 minute fast walk today and a 40 minute non-stop swim.

Next WI is not `til Thusday so hopefully have balanced things out.

Hang on, its not a disater, only a set back. You can make up for this by being sesible for a while. My danger is I think ''oh,I've blown it now'' and then thinkImight as well not try so hard the rest of the time, which really is the bigger of the two mistakes. You CAN get over this. :)

Keep going people...aren' weekends the hardest bit?

About 300 calories worth of swimming and perhaps 150-200 calories of walking (above what you'd burn sitting reading abook. I recon you mostly balanced it out, no worries, carry on with your efforts.

I am SHOCKED! I just hopped on the scales to find...I've lost 8lbs in just over a week (trying to only weigh myself once a week), WHAAAAAAAAT?!!

Admittedly I have been eating a lot less and I assume that this is just a first week thing and I won't continue to lose anything like that but I'm amazed! Especially since yesterday was one of those days where I just grazed and grazed and grazed, luckily on quite healthy stuff rather than biscuits, bombay mix and crisps though.
The scales can sometimes play tricks by 2-3lb, in any case a great achievement!:T

Hello all, I posted a bit on here a couple of months ago but have been mostly lurking since.

Has anyone read any diet books and what has worked? I'm thinking of health/wellbeing books as well. I have been trying t improve my digestion and I've come acrpss 2 books - the Perricone weight loss diet and the Viva Mayr diet. Both seem execellent and have lots of great advice which I am trying to follow.

Perricone recommends eating from a 10 superfood groups, he loves fish oils in particular. He also recommends supplements but I haven't bought any of those yet. So far I like it. I'm only on page 111 so still working my way through. Reading it is keeping me from snacking though! :D

Viva Mayr blames inflammation for a lot of today's health problems, including overweight (so does Perricone, come to that). It says thhat we should consume anti-inflammatory foods and a ratio of 2:1 alkaline/acid foods generally. It also recommends chewing food THOROUGHLY (like 30-40 times per mouthful), not drinking water at mealtimes and taking baths in bicarb of soda. It also says that we should not eat when stressed, or eat anything raw after 4pm. Like a lot of diet books, it advises eating most of our calories early in the day, working from a large breakfast to a small dinner. Some of the recipes are weird but most look good - although I could never eat some of their suggested breakfasts at that time of the day!! :o It is one of the best books I've ever read and I would totally recommend it. It really makes me want to go to his clinic in Switzerland, think it might not be very MSE though!!! :rotfl:

Anyway, just thought I would share my musings and would be really interested in your views and any other books you would recommend.

As fpr the rest of you, you are gettign great results, especially AdrianHi and **Juice**! Wowza!
  • Hi Tara, seem's a good idea to me :D, I need all the help/support I can get these day's - LOL! I think the day's of losing the weight with hardly any effort it seems, are loooong gone

Well, my DS's birthday went quite well for me food wise, I did have cake, 2 pieces in fact, but only had a small breakfast and lunch with NO snack in between, so that I could have cake. And each piece of cake was half the size I would normally gorge!! Did have macdonald's for tea (chicken nugget happy meal) but nothing else til this morning, so I don't think I did too bad really.

Today is going ok so far, special k for brekkie, and 2 jaffa cakes for snack, not sure yet for lunch, a tuna sandwich i think!

Anyway, off to get lunch and then do the weekly shop...groan....then a stroll round a car boot after! that's the extent of today's activities!

Hope that everyone else is having a good weekend and hope that next week is a good week for us ALL weight loss wise, i'm hopeing for 2lb's OFF! I will, I will!!!

    Good luck everybody! xxxx :A

poshstock - you can do it and so can I!!!! Those 2lbs don't stand a chance! :D

teaspoon1, I have heard of Dr Perricone but not Viva Mayr... sounds interesting though, I must google it. I already tend to eat bigger lunches and smaller dinners so glad to see I'm doing something right! Mind, cutting out the chocolate would help even more LOL!

Yes, I think it's the same for me! It means having two meals instead of three so the cals have gotta be lower. And I exercise more at weekends. Mind you, my alcohol intake is usually slightly higher as well ha ha.
