No it was an older one with proposal stories in it...I think maybe there were 2 or 3 doing the rounds at one time in different guises (one may have been a diversion from a thread on engagement rings). I was looking forward to reading my own one back but don't really have the energy or inclination to go hunting right now!0

All these stories have made me cry.
I married the most unromantic (or uncaring) man ever, my son was 5 and at school before I got my first Mothers day card despite him knowing how upset I had been the first year.
Anyway ours went like this.
Me: I'm pregnant
Him : Suppose we'd better get married then
We did but he moved out after 15 years.
Hopefully I'll pick better in the next life.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Here is mine...
We were on a four day break in Venice which I had arranged for H2B's 30th birthday and we had hadd 3 really fantastic days there sightseeing and eating good food and generally just enjoying each other's company. Then, on the final day there I woke up at around 7am and H2B was nowhere to be seen! I got up and had breakfast at the hotel, H2B re-appeared half way through and I then went back to the room to get showered and get ready for our final day in sunny Venice. As I'm getting ready H2B is LITERALLY pacing the room non stop and snapping at me for taking so long to get ready and saying really annoying things like 'it didn't take you this long to get ready yesterday' - really unhelpful when I needed to sort out the serious business of which shoes with which jeans and hair up or down lol. Anyways, I told him he was stressing me and to get lost or shut up or both! Not the best start!
We eventually got out and saw some more of Venice and we then decided to take a Gondola ride (something we weren't sure about doing because of cost but it was the last day and we had some spare euros). So, on we get, the Gondolier begins singing in Italian and, as we approach the Rialto Bridge, H2B turns to me and says do you reckon we could live on beans on toast for a year or so?? So i'm like eh? what are you on boy? and he then gets down on one knee and proposes - made the gondola slightly rocky and had me in tears! There was no ring but he brought that when we were home and turns out all the pacing that morning was his nervousness and that he had disappeared out of bed at 6am that morning too to call my dad back in England and ask his permission!
It was perfect and I had soooo many congratulatory calls and texts once the news had spread back home. We had a great engagement party back home in June 2010 and are marrying on 30th June 2012.... I can't wait!:heart2::heart2: Bride to be - 30 June 2012:heart2::heart2:0 -
Mine was in Rome, june this year, and totally unexpected.
We were walking around trying to find the Trevi Fountain, considering it's pretty big it's well hidden! Eventually when we found it my H2B thought we should get an icecream so we did and sat on the steps leading down to the Fountain.
After eating the iceream (he took ages......) he then spun round in front of me so he was on one knee and said 'I think you've always wondered how I'd propose' at this point I think my head was spinning and I just kept saying 'get up... get up.... people are looking' we were surrounded by hundred of people!
He then went on to give me the proposal speech :-) and presented me with my ring - which he had made out of the cornetto cone!! So it all made sense why he was adament we got an icecream etc.
I get goose bumps everytime I think about it.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0
