Awww these have made me feel all lovey dovey!
My OH proposed to me at the stroke of midnight on new years eve/new years day.
We were sat there in our pj's, then he came in the living room at about half 11 fully dressed and told me to go and get dressed, he blindfolded me and took me out to a car (his brother) At this point I knew he was going to propose but it didn't make it any less special. His brother drove us up to a local beauty spot where the views are amazing. After nearly breaking our neck walking up the icy hill, he told me how much he loved me and just as all the fireworks were starting, he asked me to marry him. He didn't get down on one knee because it was freezing and he didn't know what he was kneeling in! :rotfl: It was perfect though. And my ring is so pretty and he said he got it because it reminds him of a cupcake and I am cupcake mad! :rotfl:
When we got home, he made me wait outside and when I was allowed in, he'd lit some candles, got us some wine and there was a gorgeous bunch of flowers waiting. He got down on one knee and asked me again, to do it "properly." Then he played a song which I absolutely love and we danced and I cried my eyes out!:rotfl:
I never in a million years thought he would put that much effort into it, it was perfect and it made me realise just how much he loves me. Think happy & you'll be happy
I :heart2: my doggies

Its made me feel the same all over again readung these!!
My then bf proposed on Christmas Day 2008. We got up early, and had already said we were going for a walk at some point. I was a bit suprised when he said 'Let's go now!!' at 0810, but I agreed to it. We drove around for a while - we went to a marshland to see what birds were there, but there weren't any, and while reversing my beloved beetle he hit a concrete post!! Not much damage though. We then went to my favourite beach, and on the way there he killed a bird - again with my beloved beetle. In fairness, it had something wrong with it's wing and it just kinda fell in the road in front of us, too late for him to avoid it. Anyway, while walking along the beach, not far into it, he said that he loved me and although it wasn't always easy he always wanted to be with me. He said he had one last present for me. I was kinda thinking 'Is he going to finally ask me?' - we had been together for seven years at that point!! I had been waiting for him to ask me, and I considered asking him, but then I thought 'No damn you I want to be asked!!' so I kinda just forgot about it and thought we would be one of those couples that never bothered. He made me close my eyes, and sure enough, there was an engagement ring in an open box in front of me when I opened them!! I started crying and threw my arms around him then looked at the ring again, and he said 'Are you going to say yes then?!' and I was like 'Oh yeah, sorry yes!!' and the ring, which is really beautiful, and not very MSE, fitted perfectly. So we had to go for a walk you see because his nerves couldn't take it, also the reason why his usually great driving wasn't so great that day! My sister laughed her head off and said 'how romantic!' when I said he crashed my car and killed a bird on the way there. In fact I'm not supposed to tell anyone so 'Shhhh!' xxI have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off

awww this thread has cheered me up today
My proposal was Christmas Day 2008, We had been together for 4 and a half years and living together for about a year and a half, we had bought out first house in the August. I had been moaning for ages about getting engaged and married and had actually given up hope.
Christmas morning I had woken up really early for some reason and was downstairs opening a few presents. OH started messing around with the TV and put Snow Patrol 'Run' on (which was my fave song at the time) he told me to open my present which was a box the size of a clock so I knew it wasnt a ring.
It was an ernest Jones box and when I opened it there was a ring box sized hole in the middle of the box...while I was doing all this he has gotten down on one knee and produced the box from a stocking on the mantle! It has been there since the night before!!!
Lol, I have no idea what he said to me coz I had burst into tears!!!lol. I found out after he had been to ask my parents and was talking about doing it in feb or something...thanks god my mum told him he couldnt wait that long!! lol. So he did it christmas Day and we got married 8months later on August 15th
:D:D 2 of the happiest days of my life

I have realy stepped it up in the past couple of months, I have spent alot of time just thinking about things as I didn't want to do everything, change my mind and end up wasting money, or be left with no excitment! We have got the venue - ceremony and reception in one place, the rings, and the photographer. I have got my eye on a dress on pre loved, but I am going to try some on just to make sure. Getting BM dresses on 6th Feb. Haven't looked at suits yet. I am making my own cup cakes and favours - biscuits. IF we have the money, we are going to hire an ice cream trike in the evening!I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off

Sounds lovely. We decided we didnt want a long engagement in the end coz I could see myself getting more and more carried away. We would hav left it till this year but my brother is getting married in September and didnt want to do it too close to theirs and I couldnt have waited till 2011. Turns out better we did it last year as I was made redundant from my job in september and still havent got a new one.0 -

August will be lovely, 15mins before the car came to pick me up it started raining, it stopped as we were going in and we had gloorious sunshine for the photos then when we sat down for the meal it poured. We had the sun just when we needed it.0
