We'd spent the weekend taking all my stuff from my old house to his house 50 miles away as I was moving in, and then taking my DS2 on his gap year placement. We went back home, he sat me down in the front room, went off & made some nibbles, opened a bottle of champagne, lit the fire & candles, gave me a glass and got down on one knee!
I had an idea that it would happen, but not then, and I cried buckets
He'd been & bought the ring (said it was the scariest thing he'd ever done) - not the one I had wanted & shown him, but one 50% more expensive & much nicer!2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

i had the most unromantic proposal going i think.
we had been to see his gran and she asked us if we were going to get married. he found that hilarious and then later that night when we were in bed watching tv i asked him why, he said he didnt know. i asked if he wanted to get married, he said at some point in the future and asked me my thoughts on marriage. i said along the lines of well i would like to get married in the next couple of years and he said of course i will marry you. and that was it. even had to choose my own engagement ring as he was going to work abroad 2 days later and had a lot to do. dont think i would change much of it though maybe the of course i will marry you bit lolDebt free 3 years early :j
Savings for house deposit - very healthy
Cash back earnt so far £14.570 -
Mine came out of the blue and wasn't in the least bit romantic:rolleyes:. After 6.5 years together he just casually said "do you want to get married, you've got a week to think about it"!!!! I just thought he was joking so ignored him - at the end of the week he came to me and and said 'well, what's your answer, I won't ask again"!! I realised he was serious and said 'ok' and made him buy me a ring, but we just carried on as we were for another 3 years. We didn't even discuss the wedding until last year but then we nearly split up after a series of terrible events which turned me into a depressive monster. Luckily we came out of it and our relationship ended up stronger than ever. This summer he asked if I wanted to go and book the registry office and two weeks ago we finally tied the knot after nearly 11 years together.:D0

bit of a strange one for me, i hadnt been well for months with some kind of stomach infection and the GP kept giving me different medication. this 1 particular 1 made me really drowsy. i was working on the day (sunday) and my OH had text me to see if i would go for a meal as it was his parents anniversary, i told him no as i wanted to go to bed. i got home got my new pjs on and went to bed, fast asleep!! next thing my mum woke me up and told me he was downstairs, i was cursing him something rotten as i was shattered and not well. when i walked down the stairs in my pjs and bright pink house coat he was on 1 knee with my ring!! he asked me to marry him and the 1st thing i said was "im in my pj's ya b@stard" oooops.
bit of history, i hadnt eaten proper food in 3 months only build up drinks so had no energy mixed with the meds so
instead of us going out after the proposal i went back to bed because i was being sick again and he went to tell our friends. an to this day my friend (who is my bridesmaid) loves tellin the story of how i went to bed after i got engaged! i did make it up to him the day after tho!!Married my amazing hubby on 8th September 2012 :j:j0 -
We were outside a shop, and I spotted a nice ring in the sale (always MSE :rotfl:) He said, well we could get engaged and I said 'sounds good' so we bought the ring!! He still maintains we haven't got engaged cos it wasn't properly done, doesn't stop him planning the wedding :rotfl::rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:0

I finally got engaged this monday - after nearly 7 years together! The proposal was utterly rubbish though and I ended getting a little upset about it. I was (and am!) over the moon to finally get engaged but I was expecting a little more effort or romance. OH just asked me on monday night after just a boring routine day. He got down on one knee and said some very sweet things though but I was kind of hoping that he would have picked a ring or that we would have gone out for a special meal or a walk in the park or something first.0
