Proposals - How was yours?

We got engaged in ibiza in a drunken stooper.

We had had a great night out, watching the sun setting, relaxing and chilling out, cracked open a bottle of champagne then decided we'd had enough as it was our 1st night and didnt want to overdo it so it was time to go home, as we'd had a really good night out.

On our walk back home we were having a laugh with all the other drunken people, throwing each other in the fountains when DF turned to me and said ''I bloody love you - will you marry me'' to which i replied - ''your drunk - if its the 1st thing you ask me in the morning as soon as i open my eyes - i might say yes!''

To which we carried on walking back to our hotel and DF shouted at everyone that we walked past that we were getting married.

SO we went to bed and i woke up the following morning to DF staring at me in bed then he said ''i Bloody love you will you marry me''

To which i said YES.

So im not sure if it was the best or worst proposal but it was definately unique and unexpected. But i will say that i wouldnt have had it any other way, all that dropping to one knee just isnt my DF, where as blurting it out in a drunken stooper is DF through and through.

But he did tell me later that he had planned a romantic meal, with champagne ordered and he was going to ask me as the sun set but he just couldnt hold it in any longer.

Mine was at the top of the Horseshoe Falls in Niagara Falls. The unromantic part was it was 8pm at night we had stupidly gone for a walk. It was 1st December and the mist from the falls was turning to ice as soon as it hit our coats, so the front of our coats was just like one sheet of ice. O/H only did it because he couldn't miss out on the chance of proposing at the top of Niagara Falls.

Mine was a bit unromantic but I wouldn't change it!

We were at a friends house in Ireland and her step-dad was teasing me about getting married, I joked that I had to be asked first (I'd guessed it would happend at xmas but this was a few days before halloween) later that night we were on our own talking and OH blurted out he wanted to be with me forever and would I marry him. My reaction was WHAT?? not the best response but as I said I was expecting it at xmas! He had to ask me again because I didn't answer straight-away!! The next morning we told my friend and her husband and asked my sister to be bridesmaid. (she had to keep it quiet for a week until we could tell our parents in person!) Then we went and picked our engagement rings and announced it to our friends at the party, all dressed up for halloween

By the time we get married we'll have been engaged 3 years but we had only been together 3 1/2 months when we got engaged!

We had lived together a while and we were at a family party, a few of my aunts were asking when we were going to marry rather than live in sin and I was full of the NEVER, NO WAY it's not us, we are happy as we are blah blah blah not knowing he had bought a ring and was planning to do it the next day. OOPS

Anyway we got home he was a bit funny with me and eventually confessed that he was actually gonna propose becuase he thought I would want that but as i didn't then he wouldn't so I just had to persuade him to do it.

Mines was on Thursday, it was our first day in New York City after 10 days in Florida. We were at the top of the Empire State Building at midnight and he asked me to marry him. I was totally shocked and the tears were streaming but I couldn't be happier. He was really nervous and it was just the sweetest, most romantic thing ever.

I'm on here as we're hoping to get married next year and want to do it abroad so I'm looking for some idea's.

Me * my OH had gone on holiday to India for 3 weeks.. we had planned our route and stuff and we were going to Agra on day 4.

We got there after an overnight train journey and I wasn't feeling that well - start of thr delhi belly! Anyway.... got a taxi to the taj mahal, had to go through massive security to get in.. male/female seperated security.. OH had an ipod in his rucksack and so was told to go back and put the rucksack in a locker as its an electronic device.

So when i got to the other side of the security he was nowhere to be seen and the securty man was like - just sit down he will come he has taken his bag back to put in a locker.. so I'm siting in the shade waiting for him to come back and OH appears back and says you bjust walk ahead .. I'll catch you up!

i was like what? I'll just wait for you.. and he's going no go on! This was becasue he had the ring box in his pocket and he didn't want to be caught out by me when getting frisked! (I did think this was weird at the time but didn't think a huge aount about it)

Anyway we get i.. i read the info about the tajmahal on the plaque before you can actually see it.. then we can see the taj mahal but I need to run to the loo.. so anyway we eventually just get into the grounds, and I take a photo (I am photo mad!) I then ask him to take one of me in front of the taj mahal. we;re to the side of it at the moment but still want to take some photos so he says okay can you hold this then.. and its a ring box.

I say whats this and he says what do you think it is?

To which I kiss him and then he says is that a yes then!?

So that's my story....!

I had planned to take a jkey photo of me on the diane seat looking sad and depressed but instead we now have one of the two of us smiling away! I managed to push my way to the front of the barrage opf people wanting to get a go on the bench to get that photo by saying - WE JUST GOT ENGAGED!!!

My chap had been on about going for a walk, just the two of us, for a little while.
Usually our tribe of muttleys go with us on every walk, cos 2 of them are Huskys and as you cant ever let them off the lead they need loooots of walking, come to think of it the baby beagle needs lots too. Anyway dogs come with us everywhere.

But Paulie is a romantic soul, I wasnt over surprised he wanted a walk together. I was kinda surprised at how late it was but he'd been asking for a while so why not.
We drove out to Avebury which is a stone circle near us. We walked around holding hands and being generally as soppy as we are.
Walked into the centre circle, where he stopped.
Gave me a huge cuddle. And typical me started looking at a near by sheep as it hadnt scattered when we got close, asking him if he thought it was okay.
So he turned my face so I was looking at him and asked me if I would do him the honour of becoming his wife.
And I said - Yeah one day.
He said - No, will you marry me
I had to ask if he was being serious. but by the worried look on his face it was clear he was. That was when I started to cry and clung on to him, I said yes but it was so muffled cos I was clining on so tight he had to prise me off and ask if it was a yes
He said he was kinda relieved they were happy tears :rotfl:

We went and had supper in the red lion, waited for me to stop shaking and called my mum and my sister who squealed down the phone at us. And we stopped in to his mums on the way home who was also over the moon But totally set me off crying again :rotfl:

Here's mine! On the morning of my birthday I woke up to breakfast in bed with a gorgeous rose aswell! He gave me my card and after I opened it he said I've got something else for you aswell and got down on one knee and asked me. OH had asked my Dad the night before without me knowing! It was so sweet and I was so pleased he had asked my dad. He was so sure I would say yes that another of my birthday presents was a wedding planner book lol!!

My OH proposed while we were on holiday in Malta. It was our first night in the hotel and while I was standing out on the balcony he came out and said he had a question to ask me. I turned around and he was on one knee holding a box. It was a total surprise and i just burst into tears...
He had bought the ring 6 weeks previously and had told all his family and friends and I didn't know anything about it.
Probably one of the happiest days of my life!
