  • We were in a log cabin in the new forest, after spending a lovely day out in the forest, we were listening to music on the i pod back at the cabin and Unforgettable (our song) came on it took me a few seconds to realise that it was my boyfriend singing it and he asked me to dance at the end of the song his voice came on the ipod asking me to marry him. It was beautiful and he had chosen the most perfect ring as well.

He had planned it all so well even down to asking my mum and dad for permission a week earlier :)

We just sort of fell into marriage after a relative left us a house deposit. He wasn't at all romantic. On the first night of our honeymoon I left the dinner table early (to get ready) and he just came upstairs and did bicycling exercises on the bed. At which point I threw the engagement ring out the hotel window! Some years later this was the man who just proceeded to eat his dinner after I welcomed him home once wearing nothing but an apron. Should have gone to Specsavers.
  • Not at all romantic.
He kept dropping hints for ages, about what type of jewellery I liked.
Would I like to get married in the future.

He had a plan to take me for a meal in a nice new restaurant and get down on one knee and ask me there.

I said could we not go for the meal, as we were skint that week - very MSE of me.

We went to our local where we met.

We both got squiffy and later went home with a takeway.

He went to get down on one knee in the bedroom, tripped on my boots and the ring box fell on the bed!

    It was different :rotfl:

We had already been into a jewellers in April to have my finger measured, I was told that it would be a surprise when he proposed.
Special occasions went by and I expected it but was disappointed.

On Christmas day we were opening our gifts, and as my OH passed me my last present he got down on one knee. I opened the present and he took the box off me and proposed. I was not expecting it and it was the best Christmas present ever!
