It would be more tender in the slow cooker and as well as that, a teaspoon or 2 of vinegar in the gravy tenderises.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

Anyway I want to use it up, possibly make a curry. The problem was it was a bit on the tough side. I was wondering about putting it in the slow cooker, would it go tougher or would it make it tender? Any ideas please.
Just to add the beef has been cooked.
Now the meat has defrosted I see my DH has sliced it so it won't be a curry. I've got some frozen beef gravy so thinking of putting it in the slow cooker in the gravy.0 -
My favourite is to saute some onions and mushrooms, add sour cream, a teaspoon of mustard and a slug of cheap brandy.
Slice the leftover beef into thin strips and add to sauce to heat through.
Serve with chips or rice. Really quick, easy meal.0 -
we had a piece of 28 day matured beef for xmas dinner way too much for 2 of us, so we had some sliced with mushrooms and onions in gravy, some diced into a cottage pie and the rest tonight will be a beef and veg stew.0

I was thinking along the stir fry lines, If you soak in a bit of cornflour mixed with vinegar and soy sauce this will tenderise, cut the meat really thin too as that will help. You can chop up left over Xmas veggies to use as well.0

I mince my cooked beef, add cooked onions and carrots. Mix in gravy and make into cottage pie.

i am cooking a topside of beef which looks massive!
what can i do with any left overs?0 -
chop up small for a chilli, cottage pie, bolognaise, keema or larger chunks for a beef curry.
Slice it and top a pizza, make fajitas or a hot filling for pitta breads with onions and peppers or fill hot par bake baguettes and add blue cheese....."Stay Wonky":D

Just eat it with baked potatoes and salad or make sandwiches.
Freeze it in meal sized portions if there are still leftovers after that.0 -
Make stovies? Yummy..
Chop up an onion or two, add some potatoes you have par-boiled for 10 mins or so then chopped into slices or chunks. Chop the meat into chunks add to spuds and onions. Cover with gravy and shove in the oven for about an hour.0
