    Mortgage-free Glee!
Had a huge piece at Christmas and we:

Sliced some for sandwiches on Boxing day.
Minced some up and had cottage pie with it.
Sliced up five (yes 5!) packs of enough slices for 5 Sunday lunches!
Boiled up the bone for stock and had a lovely chinese soup with it
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D

    Hi pebblespop,

I usually add some vegetables and gravy to it and make it into a pie. There's an earlier thread with lots more ideas so I've added your thread to it to keep the suggestions together.

Ooh! I diced the beef slices (cut it all up yesterday) while I cooked rice. Heated up a pan with oil and osme beef fat, threw in a diced onion and the beef, and a courgette chopped up, added the beef juices and a little bouillon, then threw in the cooked rice and stirred it all up.

It was DELICIOUS! Really, really nice and so easy and cheap! I'd NEVER have thought of doing something with rice so I'm very grateful for the idea - I have some for lunch tomorrow in a tub AND more beef to use up tomorrow night!

Thanks! It really is one of the tastiest meals I've had for ages!

I'm doing this tonight and totally recommend it - roastie rice is a house fave now!

  • Hi today we had roast beef for lunch as my sister and her husband were coming for lunch, anyway we dont often have beef as the little ones prefer chicken (and its usually cheaper) , I went a bit mad and bought a huge piece , I cut it in half and put half in the freezer but there is still loads left. I'm going to give my 2 kids (aged 3 and 15 months) it for thier tea tomorrow, and me and my husband are going to have beef fajitas for our tea. but i know this will only use about 1/2 of it.

will it still be ok for tue? and any recepie suggestions.
I was thinking of having a go at beef stroganof but not made it before? otherwise can i just freeze it now its cooked (was fresh yesterday) and then defrost it and reheat it as a stroganof or curry later?

    thanks
sorry for the simple questions but i'm not that brilliant at cooking but learning fast.:T

  • I have a couple of bags of chopped cubed roast beef in the freezer to add to random curries (is from a tesco half price topside joint-wasn't amazing fresh, usually have butcher beef but was an impulse buy when there with OH)
I just chopped into cm/2cm cubes and froze. add into curry sauces from frozen (just a little goes a long way)
