then shine your sink (basically clean it!)

then look on the old style board for the Flylady weekly challenge and prep for that

And then sit down and have a cup of tea!! xxxxx

meema I don't know about flylady but when I need to blitz the house I start small. Pick one room, not bathroom or kitchen because those get messed up again really quickly. I usually start with my smallest room which doesn't need masses doing to it.

I start by walking around with a bin bag and throw all the junk, then I get everything into a pile in the middle of the room. I make, keep, charity and other room piles. Shove the charity stuff in a bag and straight into the boot of the car. while the surfaces are clear of stuff I clean those, dust the walls down and clean the skirting boards/light switches/door handles. Now, sort the keep pile, put it in drawers or on display. Other room stuff tends to go into a box. Hoover in there and you have one room done.

Once I've got one lovely clean room it really gives me a push to get the others done. So I follow the same pattern.

At the end I have one big box full of other room stuff (and another with paperwork usually) so I sort through the other room box, put everything where it needs to be and then get on with the paperwork.

Once the house is all clean and tidy I try to do a list of things every day. I always empty/fill the dishwasher, clean sink and kitchen surfaces and sweep the floor. I throw bleach down the loos and wipe them over. I hoover the main rooms every day too.

The cleaner does the rest once a week :)

  • Hi all,
A fairly fruitless week for the list but quick update:
    1. Pay off chunk from credit card paid £30. not great but every chunk starts with a little crumb...
    2. Buy and wrap all Christmas presents (look for bargains & make presents if possible) - not yet, but looking through present box & have found a few things that would suit people - hope this (sort of) counts
    3. Plan weekend away with friends (but save up for it before booking anything!) - need to come up with a shortlist of places and a max budget
    4. Clear out wardrobe and Ebay stuff I won't wear again (e.g. posh dresses from people's weddings). Or maybe Ebay most of it and swap something with a friend so I still have a "new" dress for special occasions - everyone seems to be getting married and having babies christened at the moment! - need to speak to mum & borrow her camera as mine is broken, been v busy and not done this yet!
    5. Cut food shopping down to the bare minimum - so far using up what's in the freezer/cupboard is working well
    6. DO NOT SPEND ON THINGS THAT I DO NOT NEED! (and use any money saved on clearing debts!)- i've been working on this, no more buying rubbish for me now - instead I'm decluttering books, CDs etc, selling online and any money earnt from this will go to feed the credit card monster. the clearing out process is actually quite therapeutic
Hope everyone is having a nice weekend,
    Ambs xx

Another better late than never entry...:D

    1) Get the exercise in; 8 mile walk yesterday so a bit tired in places.
    2) Use what I have for Xmas; this includes cashing in loyalty points as well as being ingenious and crafty.
    3) Declutter and dispose. Will include charity shop, ebay, anything but garage sale.Very urgent as 3 teams of workmen due to descend to work on small crowded flat within next few weeks.
    4) Less time on the internet:rotfl:
    5) Remember what Flylady says: you can do anything for 15 mins except whine!

Oh, and one final thing: how do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time...

Pay off my Barclaycard - Nothing more paid off but I think I will be able to pay it off with my wages on 30th Sept.
Pay off my Capital One card - Again nothing paid off but am going to clear the Barclaycard and throw everything I can at this one.
Declutter and throughly clean my house and keep it clean and tidy - I am in the middle of doing this but whenever I am off my mum always makes plans for me so don't have bags of time to do this. Advertised a big lot on Freecycle to get the place clearer for cleaning though.
Finish off my Christmas shopping as cheaply as possible - Doing well with this, got all my cards, my gran's present, started my sister's and have got 8 pressies for my niece (little ones).
Fill up my £100 saving tin - Still only a pound in there at the moment.

think people have all started at different times so no strict timescale - just count 12 weeks from your first post - i just started this week too (and not doing great either!)
