Have you read any Angela Thirkells? She 'borrowed' barsetshire, and wrote more books set later on - 1920's - 1960s I think. Nice happy gentle reads. I don't own all of the Trollopes, but worked through the ones I have a few months ago. They will go back on the bookcase for a couple of years now.

I've ready some Angela Thirkell - and like you I don't own all the Trollopes (my dad has the barchester chronicles, so I borrow from him, and I've got odds and ends of others besides the pallisers).

Great news on the plastering. i'm not sure I could cope with the cat-hair from 26 cats!

I'd be careful if I were you... Triker will be trying to buy you on ebay :p

Had a lovely day out with a friend - she came over for a cup of tea (fennel), we looked at the garden and she gave me some more ideas for it. Then we went for lunch at a pub in the middle of nowhere and had a bit of a walk. The only irritating thing was that she was an hour late, so I could have had my tyres done and/or been to the post office before she got here if she'd bothered phoning!

I'm thinking of buying some china on ebay... but as I'm an ebay virgin I'm being quite cautious!

And my bonus from my old job has gone into my bank account! I'd forgotten about it... :D

I can't decide what to do next. I suppose I should put the fire surround back on before it gets dark, so if I want to sit in the living room I can actually get in there and it isn't too unpleasant. I think garden stuff will have to wait until tomorrow.

All that fresh air has made me tired, but I won't be needing much to eat this evening, as I had hare & venison for lunch... think I'd better have a vegetarian supper!

Carol22, I want a slidey ladder and a library too. And 26 cats.

    That's my dream too

sigh.. feel a bit..I dunno, lost? Lonely? (fed up is too strong) but you know what I mean!! Funny really, not like me...

I felt like that when the kids went back to school but I've recovered now;)

DH has sorted out all his clothes so we now have another bag for the charity and another rag bag full. Cupboard is just about empty so very pleased:T:T

Bed stripped and turned so just need to remake it and damp dust the room and I'm finished.

There are 2 more drawers to sort but neither have much to be decluttered, just need a bit of a sort so I will do one on the next two master bedroom days .

I have a fair bit of stuff that needs rehomeing so I'll do that tomorrow or later on.

DoDo has landed and all went well. Greenbee thanks very much for the food/cooking help. I got one of the 'look what we found' meals from Waitrose (on offer :money:) and he said it was great so I'll get another for the real expedition in March. The stove we borrowed from a friend and he said he had the best one as the Trangia ones took 40 minutes to cook and his was instant and could boil water for hot chocolate in minutes, so we need to get one the same - not expensive at all.

One final push to get the room ready for bedtime (DH is angling for an early night, I can tell;))

Kazwookie ~ I'd be very careful about the waiting for the football results strategy, as my dh has previously suggestsed that we can listen to Radio 5 live on the bedroom radio and indulge in a bit of dual tasking :o

Toots ~ If you like crime novels, have you read any Henning Mankell? He writes the Wallender series, and I got one of them out of the library for the first time a couple of weeks ago....was very impressed, they are detective stories but they are also about the problems in modern day Sweden ( which are quite often the same problems as we have here ), I liked it so much I have asked oldest ds to buy me a couple of the books for my birthday.

Well coming back on the site has had an effect on me as I have:
    Been to the library
    Been grocery shopping
Washed kitchen windows and work surfaces
Done two hours ironing and can now see the bottom of the laundry basket
    Washed all our bedding

Having a cup of tea before cooking dinner, and looking forward to tonight's Strictly :D

Fire surround cleaned and put back (didn't bother to clean inside the fireplace though, as there is far too much rubble!). I've realised that I could probably ebay the surround... or at least try before freecycling it! It's a reproduction victorian cast-iron one with part of the fireplace, but missing the fire basket/grate, back & damper, so can't actually be used for fires

I suppose I should try to get a few more bits and pieces done today. I stripped my bed this morning, so need to remake it.

Hi all, I'm supremely fed up and low.

I stink, my bed stinks, my bedroom stinks, the house stinks, I'm cheesed off.

Doc signed me off for another 4 weeks yesterday,

So far today I have managed to list 2 things on ebay, book hotel thing for trip away, order family and friends railcard.

Yestrday I batched cooked, pork in gravy, chile con carne, chicken casserole, chicken stock and beef in gravy.

Thats it for now, I need to get going and empty some of the overflowing bins from the house and have a shower, and get a binbag and fill it with crapola.

Toots did your package arrive hun, I posted it wed/thurs but I know there's postal strikes so it may be delayed?

  • Hi ladies!

Natty - we have just had 10 days of sunshine here in south Devon without a drop of rain. Even today that started all grey turned into sunshine mid afternoon!
Jackywhizz - they are nice and really easy to make so I know you will enjoy them!
Quillion - Sorry to hear you did not get the job.

Jinky - see you later babes!!

Ok, I just spent the NICEST three hours in my garden in the sunshine potting on primroses and all my lovely new lavender babies into lil pots and putting them into the greenhouse so they can recover. Even though they were tiny they still smelt so gorgeous. Thank you again Rosepink hon, you have made a bad week so much better with your gift.

Picked lots more tomatoes too, and it's amazing how different the varieties taste, and even the shades of red they ripen to can vary, it's fascinating.

Hope you all enjoy your Saturday evenings, I am looking forward to Strictly of course!
