I already had a bread maker and a slow cooker before I joined MSE. OS has 'made' me buy a yogurt maker, soap nuts (which arrived this morning :T ) and has got me spending more money on bicarb and vinegar than I ever have before.
I hardly ever use the bread maker as it doesnt work out any cheaper than buying it at the supermarket. I use the slow cooker about 3 times per week and more in the winter. I hardly ever use the yogurt maker as my children don't like it and neither does my boyfriend. I have converted to soap nuts as I think they are brilliant.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040 -
breadmaker (but my bread is still awful sadly)
easyo thingy (excellent)
kefir (not sure yet, smells too awful to do anything with)
microfibre clothes (brilliant - is there ever a way to get them clean again)
sprouter (again excellent, except i have to pre-plan stir frys but several days)
plus just signed up for my allotment.
nearly bought chickens in a moment of madness but have since been talked out of it.(must wait for larger garden)
All in all its been really useful, thank you all.

bargainqueen wrote:rotfl what exactly did that dream involve looby? Did you grow and grow and split and grow...?
LOL sort of! I dreamt I got some, wasn't sure where to put it that would be warm enough and ended up putting it on top of my fridge() then it suddenly grew and grew and grew spread all over the kitchen and killed my fridge. But on the plus side I decided I did like the taste of it and decided to start selling kefir drinks to all my friends. I am sane.....honest :whistle:0 -
I feel more as if OS has encouraged to develop a side of me that was already there but needed a bit of nuturing. For example, just order reduced compiost bin from council at reduced price after following someone's link from here. Now,I have always wanted a compost bin but have never actually got round to doing anything about it. Same goes for growing veggies from seed.
Things I have "learned" about on OS then gone out and bought are slow cooker (no regrets) and stardrops (59p - not a major expenses!).
But best of all since OS I have been able to plan my time more efficiently, and I am cooking better quality ingredients / more variety but for the same cost and with far less waste.
I feel like this is the real me!!!Me debt free thanks to MSE :T0 -
Like most people it has to be Stardrops and microfibre cloths. Have even got DH using them now! I have got a sewing machine which my Mum bought me for my birthday last year but I haven't made good use of it yet. However I am determined to start. The thing I want most is a slow cooker, just haven't found the right one yet (there's only two of us. That was a TV programme wasn't it?:rotfl: )MFiT-T2 No.350
