A stick blender - cheapo one from Tesco and it does exactly what I wanted it to do
Stardrops and coordinating microfibre cloths
Slow Cooker, which I broke and haven't yet replaced
Gallons of vinegar for cleaning and as a replacement for fabric conditioner
A few tub things for keeping things in the freezer - but supplemented with using things like plastic pint bottles for soup which would previously have been chucked away without considering what to reuse them for
Not a terribly long list - I know gadgets like a breadmaker, yoghurt maker and so on would just turn into dust catchers.
I have stopped buying expensive cleaning chemicals and fabric conditioner
I bake a lot more (hence expanding botty, should stop that one really)
I cook from scratch a lot more
I literally never buy a tin or packet of soup now - make my own as it's so easy and it uses up whatever veggies are hanging about in the fridge
Top of my want list are soapnuts and kefir grains0 -
Ok - here goes,
Slow cooker - on at the moment (sausage casserole!)
Star drops
White vinegar
Cake / biscuit making stuff
I don't own a breadmaker but I do enjoy making my own bread thanks to this forum. I want one, though, in case Mr Henhog is reading and would like to buy me one!!
Good thread! :T0 -
Slow cooker
Breadmaker
Ice cream maker
Vinegar, bicarb, soda crystals, stardrops, microfibre cloths
Silicone loaf mould and a muffin tin
probably loads more than i cannot think of just now."This site is addictive!"
Wooligan 2 squares for smoky - 3 squares for HTA
Preemie hats - 2.0 -
I finally found some Stardrops yesterday!!!! Had never heard of them before OS, but looking forward to using them!!!!0

Stardrops, of course
Baby wipes for spot cleaning - brilliant!
Bean sprouter - hasn't worked well for me. Never seem to have the beans sprouted at the time I want them. That's my fault, I know.
Food from Lidl - pleased with some of the recommendations I tried, disappointed with others. That's down to personal taste, of course - glad I tried them.
I was already a fan of soda crystals - they are wonderful0 -
OS has made me by microfibre cloths and stardrops, fruit and veg from the market rather than the supermarket, soapnuts, nuts and dried fruit from the scoop bins in health food shops. Buying Own brand washing powder instead of aerial. (Its needed somtimes when soap nuts won't do) Bought flannels to use instead of cotton wool for clenser.
However, OS has made me not look in my fav. clothes shop since these nothing I want. I've stopped buying shower gel and will use soap instead. Haven't used the tumber dryer since joining here. If I can manage through the winter then I'm sure I can through the summer. (only two adults in the house). Won't buy dettox spray for the kitchen floor anymore, stardrops will do and its not as if you eat of it, is it? Nor special woodern floor cleaner.
This is a good thread and as made me think about other things as well, thanks.0 -
I've only just started reading this part of the forum. I know, shame on me;)
But I have bought a slow cooker and have got loads of the recipes from here and I just love it!:T
I'm now off to do a search and find out what 'stardrops' are.:D0 -
ok, search done.
Looks like on my next trip to town some stardrops is going to be bought.:D0 -
Vinegar instead of clothes conditioning
Soap nuts - now don't need the above vinigar for clothes conditioning (lol)
microfibre cloths
already have BM
already made own cakes etc
I have a SC but don't use it very often as I don't have very many veggie recipes (only soup!) so should look for them I know!
Not tried Stardrops yet, but have got some ready and waiting
I think that's all for the moment but I'll still be on the lookout for other things."It is always the best policy to speak the truth-unless, of course, you are an exceptionally good liar." - Jerome K Jerome0 -
