  • There is a long running thread about 3 and the coverage etc that I'll merge this into but I would check who it actually is that is cold calling you.

I have been on the 3 network for 2 years in February, and so far have no complaints. I live in Hertfordshire and always have good coverage, currently on an 18 month contract for paying 15 a month with 500 free minutes and 100 texts a month. The first year I paid 2.99 a month for the same deal. I was dubious at first but have been really happy with them. I have heard horror stories about them so dont know if I am one of the lucky ones?

That would make two of us then. I've had over 3 years with 3 and for the first 6 months couldn't use the phone because of random cut-offs etc. Cost wasn't an issue as I have 100% cashback on my phones.

However since then they have been better than any other network I have used (Voda, T-M, Orange, Virgin) and with my contract ending soon I want another 3 contract in pref to all the others.

    Hi guys

Got to get a new mobile, - called into the 3 shop today, he recommends the SE W850i

    30.00 quid a month for 18 months.

First 6 months 1500 mins and then dropping to 750 mins. Text - first 6 months 300 texts and then 150. 50 mins Video calling.

I have read most of the post regarding 3, but I get really confused about mobile taffifs - can anyone help please - is 3 any better these days and what about the W850i...?

Thanks guys - oh, I mainly use the phone during weekdays to call hubby for a few mins and and a few text to mates in UK and Oz each week.
  • I have a nokia n70 on 3 pay as you go. I'm not happy with 3. There is a poor signal at times in London! I live in central London (Covent garden) and signal is a problem 4 me!!!!!!!!!!!! I reckon they are also overcharging people on pay as you go. Their prices are just too good to be true aren't they. I reckon they overcharged me by over £5 in the past month. I called customer services (another nightmare by the way) and they said they can send a report that would cost £10. I thought I might as well let it go :-( Does anyone else share the same probelm? Are they ripping us off or is it just me? If anyone buys a handset from them, good luck getting it unlocked! You're pretty much stuck with them if you get one of the newer nokias because they have locked it very well to their network! + If anyone does get their phone unlocked please tell me HOW.

I'd say it's just you but then I don't have a PAYG a/c. I'm very happy with Three and they are the provider of choice - I find Vodafone never have lines available, T-Mobile are useless and Orange the next best.

I'm looking for a fourth 3 contract and I rarely have problems with signal in central or suburban London.

I upgraded with 3 last month. What a mistake.

they put me on the wrong tariff, they were supposed to send me an unlock code.

keep getting told different things by different people when I phone up. Bunch of muppets. Wasted hours on getting this sorted.

3 is fine if you never have to speak to CS. But their CS is the worst I have experienced for a mobile company.
  • Don't know if 3 are the cheapest but their customer service is terrible!

recently brought a mobile from them, and it wouldn't charge. I phoned them up several times and got through to their indian call centre operators - they obviously have a set thing they can say and won't deviate from it.

The offshot of it was that they apparently didn't have any more of the phone i'd ordered available (nokia 6280) and were trying to palm me off with a much worse phone. this was despite the fact that through there website they were still offering the 6280 on the deal i'd brought.

rubbish! as i was in the first 14 day period, used their money back option and am now returning their phone.

Figure if this is how they are going to treat me in the first few days of the contract rather go elsewhere..
  • Whenever I've had a problem with 3 they've always been very helpful. And if i have real complaints they are always willing to knock me some money off or give me things for free.

  • Handset: Nokia 6630 gotten on the 2005 November The Link 12months free rental +free handset +£50 profit +quidco + tradein so all in all over £80 profit minus £15 charge in the last month to unlock it, £65, so still very good

Location: Was given to a relative so mostly used in High Wycombe without problems, netmonitor was installed to bypass the 3 lockout of network modes and locking the 6630 to GSM only mainly to prevent call drops when 3 masts were out of range which mostly occured when travelling but was still rare

Problems: Only minor ones that were fixed easily enough with their CS, which requires patience most of all but they get things sorted eventually

Overall: 8/10 - but mostly because the relative I gave it to was a light user and now they are on the £5/year T&T200 retention tariff which they are very pleased with.

I've just agreed tothe 100+100 retention tariff, 3 have called me 3 times to see if, after I'd given notice to end contract on 7th Nov, I'd stay.

    £5.55 for a year's-worth is somewhat useful !!
