I read in some previous pages on this thread that any attempt to switch away from 3 (ie get a PAC) is very painful. Is that still true?0

Yes - it's absolutely still the case (see my post on the previous page). After three letters threatening them with the regulator, 3 have finally deigned to give me my PAC and cancel my contract when it expires - it hasn't stopped them calling me every day trying to get me to change my mind.
They are an unmitigated nightmare!!! Avoid at all costs if you value your sanity!! :mad:0 -
I have used 3 since 2004 they were brilliant in every way and I got good deals, good coverage until (I think they have been bought out)I lost my phone and rang for help, instead of a Scots voice I had an Indian with no English
so a rang again and had a gaggle of Indian men screaming in derision I was so shocked I emailed and was told to cancel so I did even though I would had to pay untill the contract ended 32 days later.
However a year later although I dont get bills I still get letters from different baliffs with threats. I send them all details and copies to 3 and "otelo" and now I have one from "ATDCSLtd ( which is how I found you as I could not find them on the internet!)
Well its a year since I cancelled when I write they say "we are so sorry you are confused we Know you dont have a mobile but you still owe us this." I have cancelled in writing at least 3 times.
Do I let them take me to court and lose my credit rating?
Can anyone make a suggestion (fairly polite)0 -
Regarding Skype on my mobile, I too have noticed a slight delay similar to an old fashioned 'satellite delay'. Get used to this though & it's a real boon. I'm sure you have all done this, but if you download the latest app you get free Skype messenger too..........a few of my mates hadn't sussed this!0

I have been on T-Mobile, o2 and 3. My work phone is Vodafone and have had dealing with Orange.
IMHO o2 and T-Mobile were the best (haven't had contract dealings with Vodafone so can't comment).
My 3 problem is thus.
I have been using the International add on with 3 mobile, £15 a month which includes unlimited landline and mobile calls to US and Canada. Probably not the cheapest option (or most convenient due to their signal) but suited me as an easy option.
However over my last 2 bills they have been charging me for some calls that I have made, stating that I have not dialled the 388 prefix before the international number. I cannot say whether I had or not, and may have simply redialled a missed call from the states, but that is poor service. They refuse to include the calls as free and so I have paid an extra £30 or so for these few extra calls which I thought I had paid for. Very clever on their part.
Interestingly enough though, they said that I dialled an International number on 20th July which I am going to be charged for, however I am in Canada and have not made any calls, but their server says it came from my phone (which it didn't).
In this case, how do I know the calls they charged me for with NO 388 prefix were really made without it? Can anyone shed any light on this or advice?
(My advice is avoid 3 mobile altogether, too many problems to state).0 -

You have an add-on which includes international calls if you dial a prefix.
You don't dial it and therefore get charged for the calls.
I can't understand what the problem is?0 -
I only have their word that I didn't dial the prefix and they are stating now that I am making calls I know I haven't made. I think that is a problem!0
