As I previously said XL are based in Sheffield and not London as they imply
http://webwhois.nic.uk/cgi-bin/whois.cgi?query=xltrading.co.uk&WHOIS+Submit.x=34&WHOIS+Submit.y=10
This is in the public domain XL so stop trying to scare anyone on hereCharlieBilly wrote: »http://www.legalbanter.co.uk/uk-legal-legal-issues-uk/58138-software-piracy.html
according to this site they are based in South Yorkshire (Sheffield)

I really do not know why people are carrying on with this thread, as any correspondence we get from 123Reg, Nominet, or the hosting, and MSE will be shown on this thread to validate us.
MSE have sent us a good one we have to say as well... it is not from Martin 'surprise surprise' and does not carry a senders name (wonder why!) but blatantly accuses us of illegal activities- all the while, not giving their information.
Would you like us to print this on here - our legal team have a copy and this has been included in the case and passed to the webhost as well for breach of MSE's terms and conditions
go on then ...show it0 -
Nominet has been most helpful
They have indeed.
Tim has just been on the phone to them after we have alerted him to the fact that his details are on this site illegally.
The op's response was as follows:
Someone has registered on Nominet pretending to be us with a totally different email address to info@xltrading.co.uk.
They have this persons detail and will also be following up on this shortly.
Jessica will also be getting carpeted for lifting the individual WhoIP out out on Tims address who is an individual and has no interest in XL at all.
OOpsy... someone has broken a law - and it is not us
That's what you get when you start meddling kids... it's not very clever, especially when you pretend to be a site being attacked on here.
I am sure the poster on here who has reportedly contacted Nominet pretending to be us will not admit to it will they?
This thread is just breaking all kind of privacy, and data protection laws at the moment... gripping stuff
No wonder people keep on coming to it.go on then ...show it
Problem is though.. 1) am I allowed to show private correspondence from MSE? and 2) will we get banned AGAIN from doing so... in any case, we could still show it on the XL site I suppose.
Basically its from someone claiming to be the 'forum team' alleging that what we are doing is not entirely legal WITHOUT proof yet again. This is the crux of the argument people.. you actually need proof legally before you just blurt things out on a forum.Just to confirm, XL Trading does have the right to reply but this does not mean MSE endorses its products in any way and, like all other forum users, must help us keep the forum a friendly place to be.

Just a curious question but are XL Trading a valid LTD company, or just a name that they've decided to use and call themselves a company?
Considering they've decided to Copyright the name XL Trading, and there is already a company out there using the name XL Trading that was formed in 2003, wouldn't that make them infringing another companies name?0 -
At this stage I am uncertain whether supplying a backup copy of Windows operating systems breaks Microsofts EULA.
I have therefore contacted Microsoft with links to XL, and asking them to comment.0 -
Time to put your full geographical address on the website XLTrading? Further proof is here from the OFT (which is also a government website):

Fact you are trading illegally
We have received notification from another source that the domain name xltrading.co.uk
were trading and so not eligible to use the opt out function to hide their address details.0 -

Why would anyone need Tim's permission to post whois information? Surely that would come from Verisign? You say Tim is not associated with XLT, then why is he on whois when you have an obligation to keep whois current and accurate for .net addresses?
The plot gets thicker.
Still not had a request for my contact details from your solicitors yet.0 -

They're providing a back-up of software that has not yet been released to the general public, so it's quite difficult for anyone to currently hold a valid copy at the moment.
Especially considering Win 7 isn't released until 22/10/2009, so being able to provide back-up's to software not currently available is a very good achievement.0
