sorry to hear about your friend's FIL - I am not employed so that makes it a bit easier. Nearly said not working but with four Dds and a DH that is not quite accurate.

    Morning all

A very wet and grim looking Jacksdale today. Has been raining since the early hours, still at least it will do the vegetable patch some good!

We keep getting birds in the greenhouse who manage to get in, but can't find their way out....

Off to take mum to the opticians in a while, I love going myself but I hate spending the money on them. I have worn glasses since I was 12 so in the years, I dread to think how much I have spent. Although I have to admit on buying the lightweight/designer frames (I know, not OS at all) as I think if I wear them everyday I will get my money worth......
Hoping to get some reactions lenses for my next pair, can't be doing with swapping and changing to sunglasses.

So breakfast today - Cheese on toast
Lunch - never really have lunch Saturdays unless mum and I go to local cafe type place
Tea - roast chicken, sin free chips and peas

Started a meal planner last night, for the next month starting from next Wednesday, am nearlly finnished just a week left to do. Get paid Tuesday when DOH has SS so I can go shop at my leisure.

Have a good day one and all

Zed, it is amazing how observant men can be at times... usually when you least expect it

Jo, I hope you are enjoying your 1st day of freedom

Elona..... If you go round to handbag Jo's ex can I come and help too please? But maybe we can find something cheaper (and creepier) to use than handbags :D
My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead :D

I believe that you can make a home made cosh by putting wet sand in an old sock!

How money saving is that lol!;)

Thought for a startled moment you were going to suggest hitting him with the "freebie" that has caused such hilarity yesterday. It brought a much needed smile to my face!

JW is going to need support to tell him to "sling his hook " when he comes crawling back - I am convinced that he will as he recognises a good thing! Just does not appreciate or repay it!

    JW

Shall we get up a posse of old stylers all armed with vinegar to wave our microfibre cloths menacingly at him???? We are all behind you pet - hope that does not scare you as much as it should scare him if he has any sense- but then if he had any sense he would have treated you much much better.

My friend sent me a text last night - her FIL only has 6 wks max to live - I called her to talk and it seems they operated on his twisted bowel and found a massive cancerous tumour and other tumours - they are all devastated but at least they have time to say goodbye etc - he hasnt been told yet - she said they may tell him today - but he is so mentally alert that is is had to believe he has so little time.

Oh I am so, so sorry to read that :(:( Yes, the sooner they tell him, the sooner *he* gets a chance to come to terms with what is happening and for him to deal with anything he needs to. It's going to be a rough time ahead, she is fortunate to have you as a friend ((hugs))

:rotfl: Oh yes, put *that* in a sock as a cosh - a "Gosh:eek:Cosh"!

((Jo)) - focus on all the things you were prevented from doing, or had to compromise on when you were together. Either that or all the eye-candy out there ;)

Can't remember who asked what - but, hen is called 'Silky'; soft shell means the egg comes out broken, yolk first; but eating a high calcium diet will put that to rights. At least she is laying daily, even if they are soft-shelled, so when she is well, it's a good sign of things to come ;) She's settling in really, really, well - and it's a hoot to watch her.

Excuse any bad spelling but Im feeling a bit weak thanks to.............Here on Saturday Kitchen this morning!!

(((((((((((hugs)))))))))))) to all who need them this morning

Throwing it down today so any plans for a day of gardening have gone out of the window (phew that was close!!) Might have to take a trip to the garden centre though I need to get some supplies for when the weather does improve.

Went to see the film Confetti last night which i can highly recommend. Its a bit strange - more like a documentry than a film but it did keep us laughing most of the way through.

Right back to the end of Sat kitchen :D

    Hello everyone!

I'm having a lazy day so far - still in my jammies, but have at least managed breakfast and to put the DW on.

Nelski - I blushed on your behalf! Then, like Elona, I clicked on the links you provided and blushed again.

JW - welcome to the land of single ladies. It's a lot more fun being foot loose and fancy free than being with a partner who you don't see eye to eye with on the fundamental things in life. Now you are available to hook up with any dashing eligible bachelor who happens to catch your eye (obviously it goes without saying that you already catch their eye, specially with your funky new hair do!). In the meantime enjoy your kitty's company. Here are some observations to remind you that your situation now is actually bl00dy fantastic and to be treasured and enjoyed:

Reasons why a cat is better than a man...
    1. A cat always comes in SOBER after being out all night.
    2. When a cat goes to the toilet she tries not to leave a trace.
    3. You can put a bell around a cat's neck so you know exactly where she is.
    4. If you stroke a cat she won't leap on you for sex.
    5. You don't mind that much if a cat brings a bird home every night.
    6. When a cat comes in at midnight it doesn't wake you up by smashing into the furniture.
    7. Cats never pretend they know how to fix the video.
    8. Cats don't care what size your boobs are.
    9. Cats still love you even when your hairdo goes wrong.
    10. Cats love rubbing up to your legs however much cellulite you have.
    11. Cats can be neutered if they stray.
    12. If a cat jumps into your lap, a little light petting will satisfy her.
    13. It's okay if a cat rubs up against your best friend.
    14. If you ask enough times, a cat may actually listen to you.
    15. You never have to spend time with your cat's mother.
    16. Better chance of training a cat.
    17. Cats are cute.
    18. A cat is never late for dinner.
    19. Cats love to see you come home from shopping with lots of bags!
    20. You'll never get a call from your cat's ex-wife (or ex-employer for that matter).
    21. A cat would never leave you for a younger women.
    22. Cats treat your mum with respect.
    23. Cats don't worry about hair loss.
    24. It feels nice to stroke a cats soft, fluffy fur.
    25. A cat's friend is less likely to be annoying.
    26. Cats can't show love without meaning it.
    27. To buy a fancy dinner for a cat only costs 40p
    28. Cats actually think with their heads.
    29. Unlike a man, a cat can fend for itself.
    30. It is legal to neuter a cat.
    31. Cats comfort you when you are sick.
    32. When a cat sleeps all day it's natural, not annoying.

    Hello everyone.

Sorry I haven’t been online, after all your lovely messages (broken-hearted) last weekend my computer wouldn’t work last week. After the horrible week I couldn’t face the job interview on Wednesday. On Thursday I went and had an operation for my RSI, first attempt at fixing the problem for 10 years. It was a bit scary, stayed awake whilst they operated on my left arm (this is taking a while to type!).

Very painful today and it’s surprising how little one can do with one arm! I’m at my mum’s being looked after on my bro’s laptop so I can log-on and get my fix!

So six weeks off work, I can spend lots of time on MSE J

Penny-pincher – sorry u didn’t sleep, well done on getting your essay written
JackieO – good luck with revision
JW1096 – sorry about your OH woes, well done for treating youself J Haircut is also on my list! It is horrible to feel alone in a relationship, but there r lots of people here to support u so u r not alone. Cute distractions r good, u enjoy yourself!
Cha97michelle – hope your throat clears

(((((((((((((hugs))))))))))) {one armed} to all who needs them

P.S. Funny of the day I’m buying a house, vendor wouldn’t let me measure up for past 2 weeks, don’t know why, even when I said I had operation due. Had phonecall yesterday from EA saying I can go and measure up this weekend…..what with one arm? All I can do is laugh!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Snowy - How true, the cat has been very affectionate today and did indeed get very excited when I brought shopping bags home! She's chewing plastic with a glint in her eye as we speak.

Elona - Feel free to handbag him! Sorry to hear about your daughter too, hope she feels better soon.

Racy - Ha ha - now that would be funny! I can imagine how scared he would be to have all manner of things attacking him - he wouldnt even know what most of them were!

So - Im back from my haircut and look much better - and if anyone wants a quick look/listen to the guy I kind of like (b4 1pm) then he is on https://www.burstradio.org.uk and click the listen button or look at the webcam. Dont tell him though - I dont think he knows I like him (yet :D ). Im currently listening and typing away to you guys - this is fun!

I bought myself a new kitchen bin today too because my I broke the lid on the next one and cant get a replacement so it has to be returned. I ordered myself a new red kettle too. I had a browse of m&s too and bought myself a lovely pizza, and one of those reuseable shopping bags (v handy) and had a browse as im getting a £20 voucher from work next week for helping out with a home insurance marketing campaign, so I think I might treat myself to some pretty underwear or some other pretty frippery. Or I might just buy some posh food - ill see how I feel on Thursday!
