Those we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear
Our thoughts are ever with you,Though you have passed away. And those who loved you dearly,
    Are thinking of you today.

Poshpaws - we have that to come. Have ordered 2 composters from the council cheap. Not a lover of worms or slugs tbh but they are doing their job I suppose!

Bought some bread flour today and some quick action yeast. Have got a loaf just prooving at the mo. Fingers crossed it will be ok, not made bread for years!!

    Hi everyone,
It's raining really heavily here and our sattelite signal has been disrupted. The kids are moaning big time because Dr Who is about to start. It went off just as the penalties started during the cup final (Liverpool fans here).

Just had the most delicious lamb and chick pea casserole.I used some Middle Eastern spices and some honey to give it a Morrocan vibe.It was yummy.Just proves you don't need recipes to cook nice food.

No recipe as such Nutty, but this is what I did as far as I can remember.

Brown in olive oil(in a casserole)
1 chopped red onion and 2 crushed cloves of garlic

    Add
    1 lb of diced lamb
some spices such as cinnamon, cumin, ginger, and saffron(I used a mix called Ras-El-Hanout)
    Brown for a few mins.

Next add about 2 handfuls of cooked chick peas
A handful of chopped dried apricots
    2 chopped carrots
About half a pint of stock(I had some lamb stock in the freezer)
About 1/3 of a carton of passata

Bring to the boil and then cover and put in the oven at 150c for 2-3 hours.
About 20 mins before you're ready to eat add a coupl of tbsp of runny honey.

    Serve with couscous.

Sorry, I cook by eye a lot so I might have got some of the quantities a bit wrong. If it looks too dry add more water/stock.

(((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))) to those who need them.......

Well we are house sitting, came yesterday, did not sleep too well last night, should be better tonight once `i have got used to sleeping in a strange bed.

Dog, cat and horses ok........am getting used to having a dishwasher will find it strange when we get back home.:D

I have started on my low carb diet, no bread, spuds etc since Thursday and trying to do smaller portions, if I feel hungry its a glass of water.

Did have branflakes this morning, need to use them up cannot afford to waste them, but once they are finished it will be scrambled egg and beans or some such for breakkie,

Scotch broth for lunch and salmon salad for supper with stewed rhubarb to follow. We have chicken for tomorrow with asparagus, there is a bed in the garden here and we were told to use it so I will along with the spinich thats there. My youngest daughter lived just 8 miles from here so will pick her and the children up on Wednesday after school and bring them over for tea if its warm enough we might have a swim as well......

I'm off to open a bottle of wine:beer: and have a glass whilst watching TV.... no housewirk to do the cleaner comes in on Monday, this is the life....:j :j

    See y'all.:T :T :T

Wow, thriftlady, yum! Could you copy that over to the recipe index so it can be found in future?

Hope your TV signal returned in time for Doctor Who :D Last week when we were in Blackpool, we were firmly resolved that after a day of going separate ways, we would reconvene at the hotel in time for Dr Who. Of course we then ended up nattering all the way through it :D

jockettuk - i'd say that's a good reason for watching rugby instead ;)

Loaf seems to have turned out ok in BM but haven't tasted it yet - LOL :D Also did a batch of blueberry mini muffins for a buffet tea tomorrow afternoon. Just about to head back into the kitchen to do chicken & veg stir-fry with noodles - all reduced items :D and will be re-heatable for lunches next week.

Posh and Vicky - worms are ok - they're not slimy and do good work in the garden. Slugs on the other hand - yeuchhhh!!!

Edited to say: my lovely housemate has just saved my nice dry washing! He walked through the front door about 20 mins ago saying "Get your washing in now, it's about to bucket down". We jointly raced into the garden (him on clothes-peg collecting, me on catching garments in basket) and I swear, about 3 mins later the heavens opened and it is now heaving it down.

So he got the first slice of my first HM loaf as reward, with permission to help himself to the rest of it tomorrow (I had a little slice too - not much as am about to cook dinner - it turned out YUMMY!!!! thanks TM!) which, if moct of my baking is anything to go by, means when I get home tomorrow evening it will all be gone save for a few crumbs :D:D

Right, lots still to do -

    Bye for now!
