When we saw my dad last night he was under the impression that he was going back to his flat at the weekend!
Asked me to change his bedding etc ready.
Phoned the hospital this morning and he had three units of blood last night - started chemotherapy which takes 10 days of daily injections.
He is not getting on with injecting himself and they say they will now keep him in to do this for him. He is very tired and will see how he is tonight.
Feel dreadful that we arrived at 7.15 last night but we had to wait for DD who wanted to see him - left in car at 6.30 and got home at 8.30p.m. with more washing - I bought him another pair of pyjamas so he now has five pairs but even that may not be enough as he has 2 pairs of P.J.s a day to wash and dry.
Going to hang out family washing now as that has taken second place.
May make pizza for tea as DDs like it."This site is addictive!"

Morning all
Catowen: hope all is ok for you to go to Florida
((((jo))))
Hi to everyone else, too!
Another lovely day, so washing will go out soon. I still have loads of tidying up to do today after yesterday's change round, and want to do a major de-cluttering session. (hmmmm.... methinks the house will probably get a lot worse before it gets any better....)
Have a good day!0 -
Morning :hello:
It's Frrrrrrrrrrriday!!!!!
Am finally recovering from Blackpool-itis - had an early night and 9 hours sleep (I did wake up briefly at 4:30am and considered starting the daily thread - though I now see that SnowyOwl beat me to it!)
Breakfast was bacon sarnie, lunch will be tuna & sweetcorn pasta, and dinner will almost certainly be cheese & mushroom pasta and pesto with steamed veg on the side.
Jo - ((((hugs)))) I know everybody's been being really diplomatic and I hope you'll forgive my brutal honesty - he really does sound like a waste of space (though I'm sure he has some redeeming features or you wouldn't have been going out with him for so long!) and has done for as long as you've been talking about him on here. Nothing but eating and sleeping and sponging off you. I think you've done the right thing and I hope you have the strength to stick to your guns (I'm pretty sure you do)
PP - don't you start on "bloody men" - I reckon you've got one in a million there
JackieO - great news about Robbie:j :j (C'mon, out of ten...)
TM - What, we've been a good influence on Nelski??? _pale_ She must be terrified of what she's turning into :rotfl: And she was thinking she was going to be a bad influence on us - mind you, she has been hasn't she - see my comment to JackieO above!
smokey112 - good news about your friend's FIL :T
Catch you later

elona - yes it is tough having the chemo - they usually do feel worse at first whilst having it, then they get better. My FIL had chemo and some days could look terrible, others he looked fine and felt ok. ((Hugs))
catowen- sorry to hear about your platelets, sounds abit nasty having all those injections etc - I hope you get your levels sorted out for Florida (its a great place). My husband gives blood & platelets, I used to but since I had a bout of Crohns Disease years ago, they wont accept me now. which i miss.
I bet there must be a Dora ride in florida somewhere??? where you staying?? guess your doing the disney/seaworld/universal stuff - Ive been a couple of times years ago with my eldest son, cant wait to go back again with these two little ones when they get abit bigger. was reading someone else went to discovery cove/dolphin swimming - that wasnt built when i last went - but sounds great!
right gotta get washing out, drink cuppa and get off to see new boss - suddenly realised this morning I havent got much office clothes that fit me!!! having been at home and baking for 6months! dont want to go an buy the next size up do you? always say your gonna diet and fit into your old ones!
see you all later.0 -
Morning all from a very quiet, slightly hungover nutty........
Went to the meal last night afterwork in the restaurant which was to say thanks for all the PA's in the UK business.
Cocktails on arrival (think I managed 4?) then wine on the table. After the meal we went to the pub where we gatecrashed another work function with more free drinks.... :j
Also yesterday found out that i'm getting pay rise:T so I was well chuffed!
Got home last night and my intention was to make salad for my lunch today but as I had a fair bit to drink, I went straight to bed - OH was fast asleep on the sofa waiting up for me bless him.
Woke up this morning feeling a little tired and tasting alcohol. Went out side to water in the greenhouse and get some fresh air.
Breakfast - at work hash brown cob, and a slice of cheese on toast.
Lunch - May be a salad, have to nip in to the town centre (not OS I know but I don't do it too often)
Tea - Tuna and Pasta bake
Have a good one folks!
Lyndsey xIt's nice to be nutty but's more important to be nice0 -
Thanks Shez (and Chipps), i think it sounds nastier than it is, most of the time im fine, its just when something happens, like the time i had my wisdom tooth out, or now the holiday, that my consultants get a bit panicky!!
We are so looking forward to the trip tho, we are staying at Disneys All Star Movie Resort (hopefully the Toy Story building!!) and whilst we are there, we have tickets for Sea World, Universal and Discovery Cove!!!! We have had the dolphin swim booked since last June (we will be there the 14th June) and its been the encouragement for all of us to save, whenever DD or DS have wanted a Mcdonalds or something like that, ive just reminded them of the dolphins, and they prefered to save the money for that!!!! Im getting really excited now there are only 4 weeks to go, and really should start getting everything ready, i dont like leaving it til the last minute, so really should start!!!0 -
Morning all
Hugs all round to those in need.
JW - It does sound like you'd be better off without him - Sometimes tho a break is fantastic at being able to assess the whole relationship, might even work out in your favour if you do get back together.
Cat - Good luck with your blood results.
Elona - Hugs to you too.
So far this morning I've hoovered countless spiders, ants, wasps, crawly bug things and the odd bit of dust up - emptied the hoover and washed all the filters. Had a bath, hoping to scrub off the tide mark of a tanning wipe that went horribly wrong....luckily I only tried it on my legs...I can keep them covered until it dies down - how can you miss so many patches???? Mind you - it amused DH.
I'm just about to take a book and a biscuit to the garden and lay prone on the trampoline until I can be bothered to do anything else. I've worked out that the trampoline is the safest, comfest place to be; The cat doesn't try and jump on me, it's softer than the ground, I don't have to dig in the shed for the comfy garden chairs and best of all....the saftey net around the outside actually keeps the bugs and wasps away....:j
