PP thats very unfair. I would make a meeting with the head teacher and go in and explain everything. Guilt her. I can not see why she can not go as she is doing very well in school. I am sure the life experiance of the holiday is more valuble than being in school in a wind down half term. Good luck

    Good morning everyone!

PP - as a home educating family we don't have this problem, we can take holidays to suit us, & work during school holidays if we want. (we do, of course, have other problems!)
But as a last resort, it would be possible to de-register her from school & home educate for the rest of the term. I'm not sure this is an ideal situation, and as I happen to think home education is something that should not be undertaken lightly, would not suggest it except for the fact that this is the last term of that school, and she would probably not miss much there. Perhaps the suggestion of it would help the school change their mind? (mind you, they could call your bluff....)

    Good morning again

Well, guess what - it's raining.
I have done loads of cleaning this morning, and washed the bathroom floor. D/w is emptied & washing is hanging in the airing cupboard. I even did some of the dreaded ironing last night, so there is very little left which I will do this morning, in a minute in fact, watching my favourite programme: Time Team.
I also have the church magazine to finish by tomorrow, so plenty to do chez Chipps.
Dinner will probably be something really exciting like spagbog.

    Have a good day, everyone.

Yesterday, had another go with the sausage maker, they came out absolutely huge!!! This time, I fed all the meat through *before* doing any nips, tucks, twists and tweaks - far easier to pass through your hand then trying to do both at once.
Invented a "breakfast" sausage using pork, bacon and kidney with some herbs Note to self: kidneys do not mince - they mush! Added a few breadcrumbs to stiffen the mix. The end result were thick, chunky, meaty sausages. Or perhaps, cylindrical mini meatloaves would be a better description :o Must tighted my grip and speed up my wrist action I think.

To do list for the weekend is all based on d11yo's b/day on BH Monday. Can't say too much on a public forum (he emails me from school sometimes and I'd hate for him to nosey in here and spoil any 'surprises') but I have a couple of 'projects' I'm working on that I need to finish for his gifts. Plus need to make sure we've covered the items on his wish list as best as I'm able. Need to make and bake the birthday cake. It's a family tradition that I cook the b/day persons favourite roast on their birthday and as his is lamb, I must remember to defrost it!

Half Term next week is going to be setting up the final permanent run position for the chook on the garden front (weather permitting!) a clear out week on the house front (regardless of weather!) , and hopefully, a couple of trips out and about with friends too, depending on the type of weather!
Car insurance due so I really need to have a quick flick around to find the best deal before signing the dotted lines anywhere :o

Tonight I'll be cheering on Gary Rhodes for 'Great British Menu' before bobbing off to visit a friend in hospital, so need to delve into the gift cupboard to find something appropriate to take along for her.

Morning all :hello: Hope this message comes out OK - my formatting buttons aren't working AGAIN. It's FRIDAY, it's PAYDAY (sooooo close to my savings total going into five figures, but thanks to Blackpool it will be next month before I reach that milestone!), and it's a long weekend coming up :j :j :j V. busy Saturday and Sunday but have no plans for Monday so will be relaxing, doing laundry and cooking up a batch of something. Unfortunately it could be a late one at w**k for me today - we have a big deadline next Wednesday, a bank holiday in the way, and several of the major contributors to the work are off on leave next week on account of it being half term. So basically most of it needs to get done today. Tomorrow afternoon I am off to Glyndebourne again on another pair of standing tickets, with a friend who has never been there before. I have offered to do the picnic - I have 2 individual-size quiches picked up at Sainsburys yesterday for 10p each which are currently in the freezer and should be OK for a starter. Think I'll pick up some salmon steaks and do a main course of salmon on a bed of rocket with a balsamic vinegar dressing and Parmesan, and I'll do some accompaniments of potato salad (using up some of those Jersey Royals I picked up for 20p a bag) and tricolore salad (decent tomatoes, Lidl mozzarella, and basil from the pot on my kitchen window sill. Also last night at Sainsburys I got 2 pots of double cream for 10p each (use by Saturday) so am thinking of doing either some sort of choccy or fruit pudding which can be had with cream, or something involving cream in the basic recipe. Off to look up Black Saturn's chocolate mousse recipe... So that will be keeping me busy tomorrow morning up to the time where I have to leave to catch the train (about 1:30 pm). This should all work out quite inexpensive, and my friend is providing a bottle of bubbly. Our main expense tomorrow will be travel - the train's about £10 day-return, and the shuttle bus to the opera house is about £2 each way. And the weather is supposed to be doing THIS again  PP - I like Chipps's idea! Hope everybody's well Rzl xx

    Good morning everyone :o

Queenie - My mouth waters everytime you mention your homemade sausages. I am such a sausage fan - have to be very good quality tho' ;)

Chipps - Raining here too and absolutely freezing. Can't remember a May like it.

PP - Although personally I don't agree with taking kids out of school I do believe its parents choice. Would anything happen if your daughter missed school without school permission. I have read somewhere about fines?!? Is that correct?!

Another day off today and still have some things from yesterday's to-do list to do. Mostly the housework. My back was still very sore yesterday so put it off but still sore today but can't put it off any longer.

Went to Morrisons and Lidls yesterday for weekly shopping. Spent about £25 but seemed to get loads (need to update signature). My mum had ran out of washing powder so we nipped to Costco to stock up as well. I got some too as I was there and will be needing it soon. However the boot of the car was full from the supermarket so the boxes of washing powder was put on the back seat. At one point I had to brake hard and one of the boxes went flying into the back of my seat - right on the bit of my back thats sore.....ouch!!

Hubby has just called to say he is finishing work at 10 and can I pick him up. He normally doesn't finish until 2 but if the work gets completed earlier then he gets finished. Its a pain in the bum tho' coz he gets under my feet when I am trying to do anything

Well better go as I have just noticed time and I am still in pyjamas

    Bye for now :D

ouch - I have a mega hangover this morning. one glass of wine with my friend turned into several bottles :D oooops!

But have a billion and ten things to do including finishing the decluttering i started earlier this week, so will just have to get on with it. lol

WM just finished so must hang that up, got ironing to do and floors to clean. My dad is popping over and using me as a hotel for the night as he is meeting up with some old friends, I have a friend over for lunch and then i have a charity auction/party to go to tonight which should be fun. Phew - what a busy day.

I had forgotten it was the bank holiday weekend, so off on a road trip to sunny Fife with Dad tomorrow, then might be going to see the scottish series (Sailing) at Tarbet on Sunday/monday.

In between i have lots of meals ot make for the freezer and tend my herbs which are coming along nicely - still havn't managed to kill them off yet!

    have a good day everyone.

PP- re your DD i would make an appointment to speak to the Headteacher. I don't see why they could honestly refuse such a reasonable request.

    Morning all,

Haven't been posting for a while, largely due to getting DS ready for his hols with his Nanny & Grandad. He goes to stay overnight tonight and then they're off to the Isle of Wight for a week in the morning, along with his cousin Emma-Louise. Big fun, big excitement!! We're exchanging DS for their two terriers, so it will be four-dog bedlam in our house while they're away.

I wanted to post and draw your attention to some new legislation regarding children and car seats, coming into effect in September of this year. Apparently children up to the age of 11, under a certain height and weight, will have to use a booster seat when travelling in a car. Maybe I'm the only one who hasn't woken up to it, but I thought I'd post the link to a page which gives details, for those of us who travel with children. Gives us a chance to buy a booster seat before they all go and probably skyrocket in price, too!

    http://www.preciouslittleone.com/carseats.asp

I wouldn't have known about it, had it not been for hubby's Mum hearing about it and then ringing to ask whether DS used one.

Forewarned is fore-armed, and all that. :)
:hello: I'm very well, considering the state I'm in. :hello:
