Went shopping with DD this morning and got her a cardigan and two tops that she likes.

Supposed to go to Dad's flat for home assessment at 2 p.m. but when DH collected us there was a call from the hospital to say it will be next Tuesday instead as dad has a sore throat.
I woke up with a sore throat and have been sneezing all morning so do not know if it is o.k. to go to hospital tonight as I do not want to infect anyone as they are all poorly with lowered immune system.

Listed some more books on Amazon and will need to get tea made soon and also gets dad's washing dry for tonight.

Your daughters school sounds very unfair. I would contact the education authority if I were you.

Penny Pincher I am a teacher who is off school today with a stinking cold - have only just raised myself from my sick bed! My advice would be to take your daughter on the holiday anyway. The silly way the system works is that if you take your daughter away without school permission then the absence is marked as unauthorised. Then the school has its unauthorised absences figures raised in the league tables! Black mark against them. The school does have it in its descretion to fine you £50 but I have yet to hear of any school doing so. If it does remind them that the local newspaper would have a field day! Hope this helps - Dolly day dream

skystar - laughed at w.powder in car - how about this.....this morning they reduced the mountain bikes in tesco which DS wants, asked if I could pay and pick up later, they dont do that, so I had to get V.LARGE Box of mountain bike, rest of shopping, buggy, two car seats and DD in my LITTLE FIESTA - but I did it!!!!!!!! it always amazes me how my little car gets so much in - its brilliant.

Shez, wish I could laugh. Back is hurting that much now that even laughing, coughing or sneezing is torture

I don't even have a small car. Its a big blooming estate monster but my mum does buy a lot of shopping. There is only her and my dad in the house and she buys twice as much as me - so much waste!

It reminds me tho'. I used to have a little fiat cinquecento and me, my sister, my mum, my niece in a car seat, a full pram and shopping could fit in that. It was like Mary Poppins handbag :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

    I've been Money Tipped!
Just got back from town, visited market and bought 3 magazines for £1.50, only slightly out of date but will do for our flight next week. Two of them even had decent free gifts attached - a lovely little silver evening bag, and a washbag and make up bag set, bargain! Also picked up latest copy of do crafts mag (only £1) with its free set of stickers so I can make some more cards.

One of our bookshops had a sale on and I picked up 3 cookery books for 50p each (pressies, amazon?) and a wordsearch book for 10p so more bargains!

We also moved our savings to an isa paying a higher rate of interest :money: I love this site!

Catowen I am keeping my fingers crossed for you.

PP good luck with the school, you deserve a nice family holiday without all this stress!

Shez, Bargain Rzl, Snowy, Racy red and anyone else who turns up sunday - I am looking forward to meeting you all.

Have just received a piece of lovely Debbie Mumm fabric in post and need to decide what I am going to make from it!

Dinner will be chicken stew with dumplings as that is dd's favourite and she needs a bit of cheering up.

    Afternoon everyone :hello:

Well, it's now half term for me! :j :j

PP - I hope that you've managed to get things sorted out with the school. It does sound incredibly unfair. I've got children in my class (Year 6) going on holidays which have been authorised by the school, even though they have a poor unauthorised absence. Your DD's absences have been authorised so you should have had no problems.

We've got some friends turning up tonight and I need to get the house sorted  The first one is turning up at 6.30pm and will need to use our shower, so I suppose I will need to check that OH hasn't made the bathroom a mess! ;)

OH was quite sweet last night as I was in a grump after everything that had happened to me (being punched, OH's mum...). Anyway, he fended off phone calls for me, vacuumed the sitting room and sorted out the kitchen. What a superstar!

Got to go and pick up another friend at 7.30pm from the station before going out for a meal - which I need to book the table for! Fingers crossed that there's space on a Friday night! :p

Anyway, it's my hen party tomorrow! So, if anyone is around Newmarket races tomorrow, just pop in!

I'd better get on and get myself sorted!

Just got a call from the hospital social worker and dad is refusing 3 visits a day once he is home (which he needs!) and is adamant he does not want an alarm system!

All things that I thought had been firmly agreed earlier this week!

Put my point of view across very firmly - which is that he needs 3 visits a day and an alarm system and I would still be worried sick about him coping!

Have a sore throat and cold so cannot go to hospital because people in dads ward have weak immune systems - so DH and DDs going without me!

Getting dishes sorted out while they are gone .
