Dilemma - tell me what you would have done?
Just been to Tesco for a few bits & decided to buy OH a bottle of champagne to celebrate new job (BTW my current "no drinking" rule has a clause to exclude special occasions/celebrations). After hunting for the bottle with the most discount (natch), I joined the ckeckout queue. Bags packed, paid & was pushing trolley out of store when I thought "that was cheap". I hadn't been charged for the champagne! The checkout lady was so engrossed in removing the security tag so I couldn't steal it, she forgot to scan it.
I did consider going back in & confessing, but then decided that as Tesco have had enough of my money over the years (and everyone elses - £2.2 billion profit last year) £14.99 is a reasonable loyalty bonus. Afterall it was their mistake not mine.....
Would you have done the same?0 -
lucie.. it was only my self control that stopped me strangling the little brat. hope its opened his mums eyes to how bad he has been.. if someone laid hands on my child i would go round angry yes but to find out what happened.. talk as adults but this doesnt always happen when the kids involved..Those we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear
Our thoughts are ever with you,Though you have passed away. And those who loved you dearly,
Are thinking of you today.0 -
Afternoon from sunny (at the mo anyway) Essex
Been out all morning at local town getting Birthday pressies as the first week in June I have 5 important Birthdays! Now back home and bought some lovely strawberries that I keep picking at. In a min am planning to attack DD's bedroom as she is away at the mo.....will start with sorting out the wardrobe then will clean under the bed - that is going to be scary.
DS is at a friends till 6pm so nice and quiet here, OH is working in the garden.
Going to have chilli and rice for dinner, tomm DD is home and plan to attempt oven fried chicken from the Hillbilly website - however it calls for 'reconsituted milk' ? - can anyone enlighten me??
MushyPeas - time does heal, easy to say I know
Tickelmouse - sorry to hear about your friend, I have a good friend the same age as me who has just been diagnosed with Huntingdons Disease, sometimes life really isnt fair.
Lucie - I would have done the same thing, if it was a small corner shop then no but think Tescos can afford it.0 -
jockettuk wrote:off course mummys little darling went home and told a different story and mummy came ranting and raving as im sure we would all do.. The good thing is that she has had her eyes opened but is still threanting the police .. will wait and see the outcome if that happens.. All morning ive been having mums who ive seen but dont actually know come up and support me because he has been a horror to loads of kids and making their lifes hell on the estate they all live in.. they will all support me if i need it etc..
Hi jockettuk
Something similar happened to my sister, who worked as a teaching assistant at the time. A little darling was bullying her daughter (outside of school) and my sister waded in and hauled the "treasure" off of her duaghter, in front of the other family. They took my sister to court, & family members told lies (quite obvious ones, as they could not agree for example whether it happened in daylight or darkness!!!) The magistrates knew that the family were trying to get financial compensation, so did not grant them any at all, but as my sister had touched the brat, she had to have a sentence & has a criminal record now. The sentence was negligible, because the magistrate understood what had happened, but even so it was a difficult situation. The school where she worked also realised what had hapened, so she did not lose her job, and she has since changed jobs twice - each time to one where she was working with people in the healthcare sector. But she has had to be completely open about it & have extra checks, so each time worrying about whether she would not get the job because of it. It is so unfair.0 -

TickleMouse: Sorry to hear about your friend, though I think she has the right attitude by enjoying life to the full while she can.

Well not been around last few days went to see al Murray pub landlord on Tues, god it was car crash comedy, though very funny.
OH and i have been trying to sort our relationship out as its been on the rocks for a while now, though today and Tuesday he has made me doubt whether we have anything worth saving. Work are messing me around with my hours, giving me all the !!!!ty shift and to few hrs. His response was to tell me to pack it work, when I queried who'd pay my bill he told me I'd have to break it to find some way of paying them:mad:
Oh well rant over off to school to a meeting as DS and DD are off to colomendy in a few weeks, so going to find out what they can and cannot take with them, so they cant trick me:rolleyes:.

Afternoon everyone, sorry I haven't been around much but life is not going well and I am back on the fags because of the stress. I have a debt agency chasing me for £13000 that XDH owes them, the owners of the house next door are trying to build another house in their back garden (we live in a terrace and my eldest phoned me up to tell me she was getting married to a guy who we have met once for 5 minutes and suffers from ill health, not the kind of start in life you want for your little girl
Just told DH that I just want to curl up in a corner and die quietly.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things
F U Fund currently at £2500 -
Awwwwww moggins ((((((hugs)))))) :grouphug:
Don't really know what to say.
Rzl xxx
Edit: OK, now I'm going to be constructive. Re the debt - I remember you saying what the issue was, it sounds like a fairly open and shut case and that you're in the right, have you got a solicitor on the case?
Re your daughter. Is she responsible and trustworthy? If so, it may not be as much of a disaster as you think. I would love to have been a fly on the wall when one of my friends (who was about 26 at the time) told her parents that she was moving to another country and getting married to a man 30 years her senior and a seemingly incurable manic depressive. 7 years on they are happily married and I can't imagine a couple more perfect for each other. So these things can work.
Re the fags. Are you back on ALL the fags or have you cut down a bit? If the latter, then you're already one step towards having your op. If not, cut down. You'll still have the stress relief but will know you're on the way to giving up completely.
Re the house - have they got planning permission yet? If not, try not to worry too much about it yet.
((((hugs)))) again though.Operation Get in Shape
