Your right Honda are renowned for their reliability, one of the main reasons I bought a new Honda Civic in 2002. 133,000 miles later and it still runs like a dream. I did 24,000 miles in its first year. I would try googling for other people with this same problem.0

I found this on the honestjohn website when I was thinking of buying a Jazz last year, then decided it wasn't so rare after chatting to a few acquaintances.
Can have a manual transmission selector problem which, because it is rare, Honda dealers are not familiar with. Some cars have needed new manual gearboxes. Manual transmission bearing failures on 5 year old Jazz becoming extremely common by late 2007. Dealers quote £1,400 for a full rebuild.0 -
It appears to be a common problem. Although I'm on my second Jazz and I've never had the problem myself.
Try googling for a Honda Jazz forum.0 -

Perhaps you can explain how my Honda Jazz with 27000 miles on the clock has a knackered gearbox. As I've previously said, I've had many cars, new & not so new, various makes & NEVER had this problem. Thanks to all the others for replying.Nice to save.0 -
Well, I've bought my last Honda car. Its the first ever car I've had that the gearbox has gone in less than 27000 miles, in fact the first ever that's gone wrong EVER, including a few with 4 times the milage on it.. Waste of time paying extra for the Honda bunch to service the cars as well. After writing to the MD of Honda, we had a letter back today saying the car is too old. FORGET THE BLOODY AGE, THE GEARBOX IS KNACKERED AT LESS THAN 27000 MILES. YOU MADE THE DAMN UNRELIABLE GEARBOX. OWN UP TO YOUR FAULTS. What happened to good will?Nice to save.0

I was actually in Spain when this thread appeared.. A Honda problem, that is a rare event, not the usual Renault / Ford ones that plague this section.. :rotfl:;)0 -

If it's that rare, why are they afraid to repair what is effectively a low milage gearbox
Well I can only speak as I find, I have had several Honda's, I have never had a single thing go wrong with any of them, not even a light bulb.
I cannot answer for Honda I'm afraid, it is a rarity to get anyone complaining about Honda reliability on here. ( or anywhere else for that matter ).
Not much help to you I know, but it seems that you have been unlucky with yours.0
