Dialaphone / phones4u send clear paperwork on how to return an unwanted phone - why cant this lot do that and stop acting like clowns.
    Hi Oneaday,
The theory being banded about is that the delays and difficulty are to do with getting through the 14 days without cancellation so that they can get paid by the networks etc
They seem to make their money by selling phone contracts and helps their cashflow etc etc.
This is only theory at the moment though I must emphasise ;)
It's not just about the money

  • I'll chase them up first thing Monday, probably get a cancellation letter written up and sent recorded delivery just to cover myself anyway

hopefully by monday morning they will just sort it though... (but i have my doubts!)

One of the (many) things I have long warned about is so-called Price Match Guarantees with cpw companies. I have repeatedly warned that they NEVER match any deal that's worthwhile. It's a complete lie - like so many others. I have also been warning that Mobiles.co.uk is increasingly being shown to be just another cpw clone in the way that it operates. I expect to be attacked for saying this, but this is precisely WHY I persevere and keep making these points. Those who believe the words rather than the deeds of such dealers or who tell me to stop saying "the same things" should note that there are and always will be many who have not read them previously. However, I do know that many others have so another thread with relevant experiences and warnings is definitely worthwhile.

This dealer really DOES need to change its actions AND its words - and actually accept that it's t&c are just that and that it isn't following them. IF they ever do that AND commit to a change of behaviour I may then "give them the benefit of the doubt" as some people reckon everyone should. Meanwhile I will continue to post warnings about them or any other dealer where I am aware of their treatment of customers (good or bad).

    Hi Oneaday,
We had this problem too and was advised that in the absence of any instructions received to send it back to the registered offices of the company rather than an address which may not be current. As the phone came with paperwork from their office I would send it there.

Their "Registered Office" address is the same as cpw's:

    Mobiles.co.uk, 1 Portal Way, London W3 6RS

Sorry I meant the office of the origination of the order which came with the phone. in our case this was Watford.

    Hi everyone,

I've just purchased a phone from mobiles.co.uk, with the intention of using their price match promise offer so i can get the same deal as dialaphone are offering... unfortunately, I should have done my homework before going ahead and read reviews or mobiles.co.uk before doing anything.... but I didnt! (and what a mistake that was!)

ill explain the full situation as briefly as possibly:

    Dialaphones deal:

    SE W995
    Orange dolphin 45 contract
    Reduced from £45 to £35*
    1200 mins
    Unlimited Mobile Internet*
    Free Magic Number*
    Unlimited Texts*
    Half price for 3 months*

*= extras that dialaphone included, that mobiles.co.uk originally didnt

    Hi there,

Sorry about this; the Price Match Promise is an old page that we should have removed when we stopped offering it (how did you find it out of interest?)

Most staff will not be aware of it as we haven't done it for years now, hence the confusion when you've called through.

Could you do me a favour and PM me your order number, so I can get this sorted? Once I know exactly what you've ordered I can work out how we make this right; obviously as you've bought under the expectation that we'll price match I'll see what we can do on this front to make sure you're happy keeping the phone. If you want to return it for a full cancellation then please let me know so we can arrange this - please do NOT send the phone back to our Watford offices.

I'll make sure the price match page is retired today (cue MJ...)

    Thanks,

They are known to alter their website when publicly here asked to stick by what they advertise, so take a screen print of the relevant pricematch section you are relying on now.

    As predicted, followed by:
I'll make sure the price match page is retired today

They have sperate terms and conditions for pricematch, which will presumably disappear today, and are reproduced here (these are at variance with the blurb that accompanies their offer to pricematch)
    Terms and Conditions

If you see a better deal on the web, from a competitor who also has the product in stock then we'll match the deal.
    1. Deal must be the same handset on the same tariff on the same network.
    2. Product must be in stock and available for immediate despatch.
    3. Competitor must be a genuine 3, O2 or Orange Direct Dealer.
    4. We must be able to verify the offer.
N.B. Manifest pricing errors are excluded from our price match guarantee. Also, due to the Networks often changing promotions on the last day of the month, we can't always offer a price match in the last few days of a month.

The "blurb" has this cynical, (but unenforceable via the legal ts + cs reproduced above), get out for them:

Any Price Match must be commercially viable: Unlike some competitors we will not supply mobile phones at a loss.

    From their (current) website:
We want you to order with complete confidence at Mobiles.co.uk which is why we offer a Price Match Promise

    Hi Quentin,

As I said, the page shouldn't exist - it's an artifact of an old Price Match scheme that we haven't operated in years., it isn't linked from our main navigation and I've asked that it's all tidied up to avoid this happening in future.

There is currently precisely one person who is "using" this outdated Price Match Promise and I've already taken steps to get in touch with them and sort things out, as obviously we are at fault here for not updating the page earlier.

    Thanks for the commentary.
