Going around in circles. Your statement is fair so long as the other side is considered - that being that non-smokers have just as much right to not be smoked around.
I would agree, STILL adding that the same rule applies to drivers, as we are discussing open air outdoor activities here.

In my experience, the majority of smokers are thoughtless, careless, abusive and inconsiderate. That's my whole issue. Your point is well made and I can only try to make a leap that the addiction overules the individual's normal behaviour. It certainly is ironic that people who's profession involves saving lives engage in a life-shortening activity, and so on.
Agreed, but that does not make them inconsiderate or abusive.

I know lots of people who smoke and lots who don't, its 50-50 which of them is inconsiderate or rude or even abusive, that applies to Smokers AND non smokers alike. Smoking is bigger than you or I think, a LOT of people smoke, more than you see huddled in some doorway, its a Global epidemic, there's as many smokers as there are cars. Whatever their career is in life, its all about choice.

If I ask a Nurse why he or she smokes, the answer is no different to asking a plumber "because I have had a stressful day and I need a cigarette".

The only inconsiderate people are those who deny others their choice. Outdoors in the smog fuelled street, smoking is in my eyes, as acceptable as driving.

We didn't force you to huddle in the doorway. That's your (thoughtless, careless, whatever else) decision
But it isn't, that's down to the landlord or store owner who tells them that's where to do it. If I owned a store for example, and smokers huddled by the entrance, I would either ask politely that they refrain from smoking within my premises OR I would place a sign in the spot saying "This is a NO SMOKING area".

You will be surprised to know that ash trays and smoking signs are issued in such "huddled" areas, as well as those smokers being directed to "go there to smoke".

Indoors is now a clean air environment, (unless its a slaughterhouse, pig sty or offal plant), I am free to wander around safe from outdoor pollution.

Outdoors on the Street, I am aware of pollution, that its surrounding me, that I breathe it in everywhere I go, as its a major City, Full to bursting point of Traffic, Smokers, Factories, Body Odour and anything else with offensive and\or hazardous pollution, I have no choice but to accept it, what I wont do is point the finger solely at smokers and blame them for the stench of the outside World.

Your argument is akin to me randomly firing my shotgun in public without regard for other people and then blaming those I shoot for being in the way!
Hmmmm, that may be a bit extreme, I would imagine a judge being a tad more harsh with the situation ;);)

I wondered if those having cancer sticks could tell me a non smoker what the advantages and benefits of smoking are?

No. No, no, no and a thousand times more NO.

Why should the parent and son move? You're the smoker, YOU don't go there in the first place. Basic common sense and basic thought for others.

Holier than thou just because I don't like someone smoking over my LO (not because I want to shoot all smokers, or even ban smoking), just because I want to protect LO's health ?
Well in that case am happily holier than thou :p :rotfl::p.
