Do everyone a favour and stop poisoning them! Especially as they are then considerably more likely to be smokers themselves.

My mum always smoked at home, i hated going to school smelling like an ashtray and having it commented on, and no, i don't smoke. Never have, never will :D
Likewise, both my parents smoked (60 a day), all my childhood, I too have never smoked and am less likely to start, it just goes to show the first paragraph isn't really applicable ;)

Volcano, you're trying to talk some sense in to the yellow-toothed, sticky, stinking fools, but they are obviously so into their addiction that they won't listen to reason.

It's hard for many smokers to admit the real reason why they smoke and hence inflict their filthy habit upon others, which is that they are addicted; facing their addiction would mean acknowledging that they are weak minded and not in control of themselves.

It's better for them if they pretend to smoke because they want to, because they enjoy it, and then arrogantly defend their filthy habit. It makes them feel better about themselves, draws attention away from the real reason they do it, and makes them think they're not the dirty drug addicts that they are.

    Much love,
    Non-smoker
Meaning, leave them to it, its their choice whatever the reason. Its one of the fundamental reasons tobacco is bought, and governmentally sold ;)

No smoker needs to give a reason to ANYONE why they do it, as it is their RIGHT, they choose to do it, the Government says they can, so let them.

You don't. You only think you do.
To be fair, you really are not in a position to know for sure, you only THINK you know, based merely on your own perception, not theirs.

Yes. Most of them are smokers!

Different things entirely. You might as well be asking if those of us that breathe get abuse for doing so.

Because there are a proportion (in my experience, a LARGE proportion) of smokers that don't care for the health or comfort of others.

Fair point. And the narrow-minded behaviour is coming from... the ardent, careless abusive, thoughtless smokers.
I like much of your input (I dont agree with ALL of it - but some), However, I have to say as a NON smoker on this thread, the majority of thoughtless and abusive posts on here, are from the NON smokers.

I am not going to count each abusive post from "ignorant" to "litter bugs", but a good 70% of the abuse on this thread is from NON smokers, directed at Smokers.

Smokers are many, Doctors, Judges, solicitors, Pilots, Police, Paramedics, Life guards, any line of job, Smokers and Non smokers both do amicably and successfully, side by side.

The majority are neither thoughtless, careless, abusive, ignorant, stubborn, non caring or inconsiderate. There may be a small minority, but no different to the small minority of Drinkers, Drivers or non smokers.

    Hi,
A major vent from me, I am an ex smoker, gave up in June 2006 and I am so glad that all the new laws have come in but I don't think it goes far enough.
I am totally fed up of walking along and some smoker standing there having a cig then blowing the smoke right into my face as I pass them or am stuck walking behind or they are walking towards me, why should I have smoke blown towards me or even in my direction to have to inhale?!!??
I choose not to smoke, they choose to smoke so I don't think I should be forced to!

    Grrrr

Do they blow the smoke into your face on purpose?
Life is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?

The emboldened bit is what grabbed me. I think your attitude on all of the above is brilliant, including the emboldened part. If I choose to stand near a smoker then more fool me.

Not getting at you personally, but smokers generally - but then don't come walking toward me.

Now I am one of those people who will come and politely ask you to kindly remove yourself and your cancer stick from the doorway so that I might enter and enjoy the pub'. So, you give me a smack around the head - fine, that's assault. So, you tell me to f*** off. Fine, no problem, there are plenty more pub's. I'll leave it to you to explain to the landlord why he's losing custom.

Maybe one day someone will stop that
    - Change in the law
    - Successfully suing
    - Or one of us self-righteous people will snap and you'll find yourself incapable of smoking. People have died through being beaten over complaining about smoking. It stands to reason that the opposite could occur.

Personally I'm off down the pub' with my shotgun to fire randomly around the streets. Because I want to. F*** anyone else that happens to be around, they shouldn't be there.

most landlords are worse off since the smoking ban and would gladly go back to the pre ban times and not give a damn about losing 1 0r 2 customers, but then we would,nt be in the doorway:confused:.it is you and your like that FORCED us tu huddle outside dont forget

Been off this thread for a while but would like to add that I know some people who earn double the money we do but at the same time complain how they cant afford x, y and z HOWEVER, one of them smokes quite heavily maybe a packet a day so I have been told so doing the math would that be around £200 a month? If anyone is facing hardship and you really don't have money for anything why continue smoking? It breaks the bank and quite simply stuffs up your health. What is so great about it? It stinks, it looks vile and I don't even know how you get rid of the odours that come from it?

Oh and I have to add that these same people also pay for a gym membership so they can maintain a healthy lifestyle. Smoke and gym...hmm I sort of think one cancels out the other in my view.

The NHS offer a giving up smoking service whilst it isn't for everybody it's a way and means to improve yourself and your life... which we only have one of!

Buy an umbrella and huddle up together. That way you can breathe each others stinky smoke and be cosey and warm what is so hard about that?
