I may not be welcome here but i have to say that smoking in anyone under the age of at least 40 has no reason to smoke, as the effects of it have been known for at least that long!

I think its disgraceful that people smoke in the house/car when children are present.

Do everyone a favour and stop poisoning them! Especially as they are then considerably more likely to be smokers themselves.

My mum always smoked at home, i hated going to school smelling like an ashtray and having it commented on, and no, i don't smoke. Never have, never will :D

40 years lol...my grandad was born in 1920, never smoked because his dad did and he hated it!! Then my grandad's dad died in 1950 from lung cancer and they were told it was because of his smoking...they obviously knew about the links between smoking and death almost 60 years ago at least.

A couple of years ago, before the smoking ban, you non smokers said very little about all of ths debate we are having now, You came into the pubs, enjoyed the company, said nothing but just got on with it.

So how come now you (2 posters in particular) are getting on their pontificating, holier than thou, bigotted high horses, so now who are the hypocrites or were you just too cowardly to say something at the time..

Actually - I made a point of only going to bars/restaurants that had adequate non-smoking sections (i.e. not just a bit in the corner of a restaurant with no physical barrier between smoking section). I didn't just "get on with it" as smoke makes my eyes water and causes me to lose my voice. Hardly desirable.

I and family spent life pre-smoking ban avoiding eating anywhere that allowed smoking or only had tables next to the smoking section.

I'm not moaning, I'm simply giving a logical argument.

give the owners the choice SIMPLE
Would you like to elaborate on this? Who do you mean by "the owners" and the choice to do what?

Bit harsh to suggest its a form of abuse though! we could put all parents in that bracket then, feed your kids crap - your abusing them etc etc.
Now that's interesting. On another forum, I once started a debate to the effect of parents of obese children being guilty of child abuse. I was keen to state that I didn't necessarily believe it to be the case, I was just playing devil's advocate.

Im simply saying just if a parent smokes around their child it doesnt mean they dont care - or give a f**k as the orginal post said.
But they are knowingly causing needless harm to that child who is unable to escape it.

there are many worse things that parents put their kids through.
Oh, absolutely. That doesn't make it right, though.

I consider other peoples feelings when im outdoors and do it away from people, but god forbid some of my smoke blows in someones face unintentionally - i think for people to moan about this is ridiculous
See, I find that a contradiction.

People should just lighten up and move out of the frikkin way if it bothers then so much.
But that's my point - we can't move out of the way with how it comes upon us. Or, we can't pass through the doorways that we need to, etc.
