  • Ugh.
If someone smokes but is considerate to others, no need to have a go at them and insult them for it. It just makes you look like a bit of a tit.

Smokers who dont, or say they dont, care about the people around them, you are !!!!!!. Consider others please.

Smokers who are considerate, who ask before lighting up when in company, who don't smoke at bus stops, I salute you and say you are cool in my book. Until I learn otherwise obviously. :P

It's hard for many smokers to admit the real reason why they smoke and hence inflict their filthy habit upon others, which is that they are addicted; facing their addiction would mean acknowledging that they are weak minded and not in control of themselves.

You're obviously forgetting how cool it is to smoke...

Try it and you won't go back.

You could always try preaching to people that give a monkies about your preaching :T

I smoke and pollute the air around me.
You talk out of your rectum and pollute sense and promote boredom.

Volcano wasn't preaching he/ she was answering a question asked by OrkneyStar on the previous page, using factual rather than emotive answers. Which is more than many of the entrenched nicotine addicts AND rabid anti-smokers are doing on this thread! This isn't an adult discussion.

I may not be welcome here but i have to say that smoking in anyone under the age of at least 40 has no reason to smoke, as the effects of it have been known for at least that long!

I think its disgraceful that people smoke in the house/car when children are present.

Do everyone a favour and stop poisoning them! Especially as they are then considerably more likely to be smokers themselves.

My mum always smoked at home, i hated going to school smelling like an ashtray and having it commented on, and no, i don't smoke. Never have, never will :D

Nobody is ever not welcome on the boards, youre entitled to your opinion same as the rest of us.

Why do particularly mention the age 40. Do you think that people over 40 have a reason to smoke, Of course there are reasons why people under 40 smoke,
You sound very young to me but i may be wrong, and good for you for not smoking.
I have been a smoker for over 40 years and neither of my children smoke so it doesnt naturally follow.
And for what its worth, i am also horrified by people in cars smoking when there are children present.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

but I do not wish to give up

and seeing the grief that it causes some of you pompous gits I will not give up

It certainly causes plenty of temporary grief to those with the courage to battle their addiction. Those that win though, enjoy a happier and longer life as has already been shown.

I'm not interested in encouraging anyone to give up, everyone here is their own person. For some, the addiction is overwhelming and they'll never be able to quit, even if they have the guts to try. For others that are successful, they'll be happier, healthier and richer because of it.

Smoking has been in decline since around 1955 when it was realised just how seriously it impacted on people's lives.

It's very likely that future generations will look on smoking with the same incredulation we have for the Romans sweetening their food with lead, men using benzene as after-shave and cocaine being used in Coca Cola.

not stupid at all,IF you come to Spain do not whinge about smokers

No they are not inconsiderate, they are smoking in an area that is allowed, again IF you do not want to be annoyed by smokers go to the bar/restaurants that are no smoking

There were no bars that were non-smoking in Nerja. If i want to "whine" i will! You werent there so you cant comment on there rudeness, there were 2 smokers with us on holiday that werent happy either.

The reason we were unhappy at the one restaurant in particular was because they had there cigarettes in the air chatting away, the smoke started to hurt our eyes and really put us off our food.

there are some mighty rude barstewards on this forum.

it is my right to smoke, as it is my right to have children, buy alcohol, etc.... do us parents get abuse because we have children? no. do the drinkers among us get abuse from the anti brigade because we have a drinkie?

no. so why the hell do the anti-smnoking brigade think they can preach and hunt us smokers down and call us vile names.

the vilest habit here is not smoking....its narrow minded behaviour. wanting the same for everyone the way they want it and sod how us smokers might want it. we must conform. remember hitler?
There's someone in my head, but it's not me
